Things have changed at the and I tested the load times and got this.

The one I have is faster than the fastest one in the list.3 secs for frontpage to load. I wonder if it is possible to have a tpforum with any kind of reasonable dial-up load time and still have it functional for what it is a website around a forum.It need to look halfway decent too don't it

I have already optimized the banner at the top and that cut the load time considerably. I think about in half.The clock needs to go and I need to replace the banner,with something else

Question is,do people around here worry about load times. Seems you do not have to add much to hit 10 secs[too long?] on dial-up

Mine is pretty much the same as g6cad's. However, I am sceptical about sites offering testing sevices that are also selling the stuff so supposedly fix the problem. Quite often the results are weighted in their favour, or are written to look like their product will fix everything.

Love my T1..

Not sure if this is the equivilant of UK Broadband or not. But I get 2.3M-2.5M and wouldnt be without it. Had 56K AOhelL before that, and never saw more than 28K. AOhelL cost more each month as well!!!

As everythng else, the less files and images, the faster things will perform. SMF native should be easy to watch on dialup. TP is just a tad worse, mostly because of use of extra images.

"the cure" is also easy enough: turn off images, use simple themes(less tables and "extra" html code) and in TP: avoid extra images and heavy code snippets.

T1 is slooooooow, Crip. Try fibre optics instead.

But your connection speed has zero effect on these results. It is measuring the speed with which your server renders the file(s) to the network, in this case, the WWW. Your content is a big part of it, but so is your host. Many hosts still rely on T1 or T3 connections, because they are cheap. But as the T1 rating above shows (1.44Mbps), it is a far cry from my 20-25Mbps fibre connection. It is way short of a good dedicated server's connection speeds.

Anyone running an accelerator to help out?

SuperQ, I went to your site (The Rockpile) using a USR 56K modem. It is painfully slow, but most folks on modems are used to that by now. Part of your speed might be lost in that logo, but for the size, you have it cut well down.
