Hi all!

I'd like to first thank you for a great thing you have here.

I don't know if this is the place to ask, or at the smf forums, so I'll try here.

My problem is, when my members or I login, we go directly to forum/index.php?action=forum

But I want them to go directly to /forum/index.php

Because the shout box is only allowed to be displayed there, no where else, and all my blocks are there as well. Many members keep complaining that they cant see this stuff and all that, so I have to keep telling them after you login, please hit the home button at the top to see this stuff.

I tried nearly everything. And I cant seem to get the login to redirect to the index without that question mark action = thing.

Can anyone please help me, Ill be so grateful for any guidance. If I need to go to smf forums, Ill do that.

Thanks so much.

Ken.

Hi Z.O.D, welcome to TinyPortal.

First we need for you to read the posting guidelines and give the information called for there so as to make it easier for us to help.

Also, if you do a search for login redirect, or similar, you'll find answers that just may help you resolve your issue.  ;)

Z.O.D,

Welcome to TinyPortal.

Before posting links that might lead others to locations where they don't want to be, please check those links.  I have removed the link to the porn site you posted for your "Link to my site:".  If you don't want to post your real site url, that's fine, but tell us that (rather than posting a url to a porn site) if this is the case and if we need to see your site, we will ask you to send the url to us in a PM.

A search for "login redirect" would find this topic for you ...
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=29874.msg238164#msg238164

One of the message links in that topic would lead you to this post by Bloc ...
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php/topic,23213.msg188221.html#msg188221

Before you ask, a search on your other error messages for "Illegal offset type in isset or empty" would lead you to this support topic ...

The "search" is your friend. 8)

Happy Holidays,
ZarPrime

Edit:  Oh, and by the way, your statement that "Because the shout box is only allowed to be displayed there, no where else" is incorrect.  The shoutbox could very well be placed to show on your board index just as easily as it can be placed on your Front Page.  In fact, here on TinyPortal.net, the shoutbox is on the forum and not the Front Page.

MMMM, not sure what I'm suppose to be doing? I want to redirect when I login to the index not to the frontpage. there is no option for me in TP to change this setting? Isnt there a way for me to edit something that makes my forum redirect straight to the forum/index.php and not to ?action=forum page?

ZarPrime

Z.O.D,

No problem.  I figured it was a mistake. ;) ;D That's why I didn't have you banned. :2funny: LOL We allow everybody to make one mistake here.  After that it's  :knuppel2: :knuppel2: LOL.  :2funny:

http://www.yoursite.com/index.php is your Front Page when using TinyPortal.  I assumed you were telling me that you want your members to be directed there when they login.  Is that not correct?

The standard way that SMF works is to log you in directly to the Forum index which is http://www.yoursite.com/index.php?action=forum

If you want them to be redirected to http://www.www.yoursite.com/index.php instead, you must make the edit mentioned by Bloc in the message I gave you.

You know I just want to make it so when my members log in, they see all the left and right panel blocks and the shoutbox as well as the forum together like its dispalyed when we hit the home button.

AHH Okay, nevermind I read it properly :D TYVM :)

OK then, here's what you do ...

Download the /Sources/Subs.php file from your site via FTP and open it with your text processor.

Find this ...

function redirectexit($setLocation = '', $refresh = false, $tp_not = false)

and replace that line with this ...

function redirectexit($setLocation = '', $refresh = false, $tp_not = true)

Save the file.  Before uploading it back up to your site, rename the /Sources/Subs.php to something like /Sources/Subs.php.bak so that you can change it back in case you made a mistake.  Then upload the edited file so that you now have both of the following files on your site ...
/Sources/Subs.php
/Sources/Subs.php.bak

That's it.

Edit:  So you got it then? :)
