TP Shoutbox / Forum Size

Hello there,

I'm new to TP, not new to web so much.  Graphic designer blah blah... So I'm not completely code retarded

First things first...

Forum Size:
*I've noticed on some sites they seem to be dynamic, stretching to fit the page.  I love this, and incorporate it into all of my sites.  Being that forums are content-ridden, I would like this to be the case with mine.  Is there something in the CSS, or HTML I should be looking for to edit it?

TP Shoutbox:
*Trying to enable it, and show up.  But for some reason, I can't get it too.  I'm most likely missing something simple, so if that's the case, point it out

Articles:
*A way to resize the pictures, and open up larger ones?  I'm fairly lost with this form of posting.  I'm  used to the WordPress engine, and this is far far different.

Links:
*I've seen sites where they are changed.  Obviously I will need one that is linked to the forums, being that this theme has no actual 'forum' link.  Where do I change that as well?

I've got the shoutbox working... Though I would like to increase it's size a bit. 

I changed the theme as well, which helped with the sizing issue.  So no issues there.

Still cannot figure out how to adjust the links, or the overall length of the page.

All the things you want to adjust are set within the theme, but it depends on each theme as to how things would need to be altered.

For editting the menu/links, you'll need to edit the relevant template file (usually the menu is a function within index.template.php), and here's the guide for adding a forum link - http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php/topic,30.html

Ok, t he theme I had selected was giving me issues when adding new buttons.  I went back to black box.  The problem though his that I need the page to scale with th e window if possible?

Ok, I've gone over that, and did what it said.  Could someone perhaps go into my forum and do it (Add a marker) so i can see what I'm doing wrong?

Welcome to TinyPortal.

Add a marker?  Not sure what you mean.

When you have something to add to your last post, it's much better if you just edit your last post to add it instead of making posts one after the other one.  It makes it much easier to follow what you're trying to say.

I'll tell you what.  Let's start over.  Please Read and Follow the Posting Guidelines, and include the information requested at the bottom of that topic so that we will have something to go on.  Also, in your next post, please go through your original post and tell us what issues from the original post have been solved so that we can figure out what to do first.

The last theme "As Theme" Was great, because it would stretch to conform to the browser window.  However, I got weird things happening when I attempted to add/remove buttons from the main navigation panel on the top.  I would like the top panel to have "Home, Forums, Messages, Register, Login."

I followed the tutorial page that was listed, but I'm really no good with code, so I'm sure I made some drastic errors somewhere.  As I attempted to add in a "Forums" link, the link showed up to the right, and was floated above the others. (Currently, when I attempt to do that to Blackbox I get the same result.  So I believe the error is mine, and not the theme's.  So if I can switch back to As Theme, that would be awesome)

What I was meaning by 'marker' was just some non-interfering/functional text in the template.index.php so I could see where I went wrong. (If some soul would be kind enough to go in there and do that).

As for the other part, If I'm stuck using Blackbox, I would want the page width to expand dynamically as the window is resized.  Though I have no clue where this would be at.  Like I said, I'm a designer, more into flash than PhP.  So code is a bit beyond me.

I think the As theme is Fussilet's theme.  Since he is not around much right now, I would recommend sticking with the BlackBox theme for now, which is Crip's theme., so ...

OK, let's take care of one thing at a time.  Let's do the Forum tab first.  You probably got the BlackBox theme on SMF, so for SMF 1.1.10 and TinyPortal, go to the link below and download the one that says "BlackBox105.zip" as it already has the Forum button added when TP is in use.  The link for the theme with the Forum button is here ...

Remove the BlackBox theme you are using now and install this one instead.  When you have done that, post back, and we will go on to the next issue.

Ok, for the next issue of needing the page to resize to fit the window.  I'll be looking around to see what I can find on it.
