I am running SMF 1.1.10 and TP .983

I have to do a clean reinstall on SMF due to a hacker issue so I need to re install TP...what version do I need to use?  I see some posts about 1.0 but I was under the impression that only .983 was the only comptable version.

Lastly, if I remove all the TP files off my FTP and reinstall, will everything look the same once I get it back up or will I have to set up the blocks and permissions again?

Thanks and sorry for the newbie questions.

Cheers

RR

TP .983 is the most stable version. There is also version 1 beta 4, which is available and compatible with SMF 1.1x. Even if you want to upgrade to TP v1b4, you should first install the version that you had.

You will not have to set up blocks and permissions, as long as your database is intact. If you have installed a theme or any modifications, they will be lost if you have removed the files.

Great, thanks for the quick response...my users cannot live without TP, nor can I  Should install reinstall the files I have or should I get the newest pack?  If so, where is the link to the 983?

Thanks again

Hi rollingrock,

If you mean that you have to do a total reinstall of SMF, including the database, then this would wipe out your TP blocks, downloads, etc.  If you are going to reinstall SMF and then add TP using the same database, the best way to do this is by using the method that Lord Anubis wrote a tutorial for a while back.  That tutorial is located here ...

This will cause all of your blocks to still be available to you when you reinstall TinyPortal, whether it's TP 0.98 or TP 1.0 beta 4.  Before beginning, be sure to make a backup of your database.  This method will wipe out all SMF Mods, including TinyPortal, but the database information will remain intact.  Once you've finished installing SMF, you can then reinstall whichever TP version you choose.

Which TP should you install?  This is purely your preference.  As JPDeni says, TP 0.98 is the most stable but There really aren't that many bugs remaining in TP 1.0 beta 4 and it is much more powerful the 0.98.  If I was doing that, I would go with TP 1.0 beta 4.  One other thing you should be aware of ~~~ A public version of TinyPortal that works with SMF 2.x is not yet available so install TP 1.1.10 and then install the TP of your choice.

Download TP 0.98 here --> http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item745
or ...
Download TP 1.0 beta 4 here --> http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item1101

Any questions, please post back.

ZarPrime, thanks for the info, I will not be dumping the DB, only the SMF Files and all the mod files off the server via FTP then installing fresh install packs from SMF.

So I undersatnd fully, I can use TP 1.0 Beta with 1.1.10 ?

I am very excited about the prospect of using TP with 2.0....I have another site running 2.0 and I love it, hope to have TP on it as soon as it is avaiable.
