Hi Guys,

I currently have another website using joomla, would love to use SMF but do not want the forum side of things as its purely for business. I am over the lack of support at the joomla forum so was wondering if anyone had recommendations on other website software?

Any advice/recommendations on what to use would be appreciated  :)

btw hope this is ok to post, certainly dont want to upset anyone by posting it... just love the support i receive here and thought who better would know what to use then people who have probably had experience with them!

:)

Bec,

I experimented with both Joomla and Mambo briefly for my main site before deciding that anything I needed to do could be done with TinyPortal, even though TP is not really a full fledged CMS like the others.  I know that the SMF Bridge for Joomla has been discontinued.  If you think that something like this is really a necessity for you, I would recommend exploring the possibilities by reading up on the available bridges on the SMF Forum in their Portals and Bridges board, which is here ---> http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=33.0

Crip, ideally looking for some sort of CMS..... I basically just need it to be a website of my business which has all the necessary info and allows my customers to be able to purchase off site (have paypal linked up so dont really need a cart) if joomla had better support I would not really have a problem. but the simplest of questions seems to be the hardest for them to answer and they love passing you off or just ignoring.

Hi ZarPrime, thanks for the info... don't really think I would want a bridge... would be great to use TP on its own though at least I know the support is good lol (might be something to consider guys)!

Sounds to me you don't need software... just code it in html. (and css, of course.)

There are a bunch of CMS's out there. I'm cannot vouch for their support or anything, but here's a few.

http://drupal.org/
http://mambo-foundation.org/ (joomla actually branced from Mambo).
http://www.xoops.org/
http://e107.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum.php

Those are the ones I remember hearing about the most. Haven't had any experience with any of them though.

Thank you IchBin, appreciate the links! Will have a looksie :)

Might want to check out opensourceCMS, It has links and ratings of hundreds of open source software. And even better, you can login as admin to a demo of each.
