a pal of mine has been talking about "hiding" a category/board from view

they said that they can hide the category or board from view...a member can go to the section and see nothing but with a link within another ---table of contents tye thread --- the member can then click the link to enter that area.

I know we can select which member group to allow to see boards but how is the above acheived??

You'd have to use some custom code or mod to achieve that in SMF.
