I have two sites: a development site and a production site.  On the development site, I was able to run the install just fine through Package Manager.  For my Production site, I got Hacking Attempt.  So, as per searching here, I started the manual install process.  I believe I made all the correct entries to my files, and FTPs them up to my server.  I checked file permissions, and all were 755 and no .htaccess files, but I still got Hacking Attempt when I tried to run tp_install.php.

So, I took a look at the tp_install.php script, and it appears to just be creating the databases and populating them.  So, I exported all these tables from my dev site and put them on my prod site.

But, I'm having one lingering issue.  I do not see the TinyPortal section when I click on Admin in my menu.  I have tried from my custom theme as well as from the SMF Default theme.

Also, I am getting these in the error logs:
8: Undefined index: tp-forum

What step(s) may I have missed?

Thanks.

I assume you installed TP to the Default Core theme and not any custom theme ?

And by not see TP, do you mean that you dont have any text in the TP box in admin screen ?

Please read the Posting Guidelines.html and apply a bit more info on what you have and have done.

SMF version: SMF 1.1.9
TP version: TinyPortal v1.0 beta 4
Theme name and version: right now using Default
Browser Name and Version: IE8, FireFox 3.5

Sorry for being slightly vague with my first post.  After the manual install process was completed, the default theme does not have "Forum" in the menu.  I see where it should be there, but it's not.  It's like the language file is not being read or something. My site's Default Forum Language is English, and has been from Day 1.

Issue #2:
When I click on Admin in the menu, I get the admin of the site.  In my development site, on the left-hand navigation, there is a block titled TinyPortal where the following are located:

  • News and Credits
  • Settings and Frontpage
  • Modules and Tags
  • Panels and Blocks
  • Menus
  • Articles and Categories
  • TPShout
But, on my Production site, this block is not there for some reason.

I think you have missed all the file edist that you need to do when you install manually.
Please check and follow these instructions.

You may be right.  I did a restore of my site so I couldn't verify.  But, I checked all the files that I was to upload, and think I had not capitalized Sources, so that could have been the issue.

I tried again, and now I get a blank page, but I can manually go to that admin screen.  After reading this thread, I am going to restore my site again, remove Treasury, upgrade it, and then try the TinyPortal install again.  Won't be today.  I will post an update when I am able to try this again later this week.

Thanks for your prompt response!!!

Sorry for not posting back.  I tried one more time, and got the blank page again.  So, I took a look int he forum's error log, and saw an undefined index error that a post from here told me how to fix.  Another one was from a malformed SQL query from a different package that was installed.  I corrected both those, and it works fine now.  Thanks again for your help.
