Anyone got today (depends on where you live) that 13days left to get a proper OS?

Using RC1 and it says that expires in 13 days when it should expire next year.... Yes date is correct :P

Renegd98

I didn't get any notice like that on my version.

What you might find is that if you just dropped in a new processor it might still be registered as single core...I'm not an expert on this but see here :

http://www.handaware.com/multiprocessor_XP.html

This is kinda hard to explain, 2core processors works with XP ofc but dont works in that way as they are build in FULL way. Im also not sure is this fixed in XP, why cuz when MS when they build core for XP they didnt even imagine that in future there will be 2core processors :P Look at my screen (sorry for bad painting)(also this problems has older motherboards-in newer this problem is fixed)
You think why you have in XP 2 boxes showing 2core processors and in Vista only one :)
I dont really for sure is this is fixed in SP3 but i dont think so, it wasnt in SP2. Cuz this part is job for core of your system and rebuilding it takes lot of work.

Ahh...I see what you mean.  Thanks for explaining it.

I never got Vista, but will be getting Windows 7 as I liked the Beta version.  When I do that I will probably go quad core - so with W7 quad core will work fully then ?

Cheers :)

Nolt

Yea, they are ready to support 8core processors.

I'll never install a Microsoft OS on my main pc before SP1 is out. Sometimes not before SP2  ;)

Thinking on win95, win98, win2k and xp. They had to many bugs before SP1 to use it on an pc that you need every day.

I think i'll test win7 on a vm or on another pc

But win7 isn't a new OS. It is like a big SP for Vista

So did anyone buy Windows 7 in the pre-order period ?

I ordered mine for Ã,£80 instead of Ã,£219 that's almost a third of the proper price, so I saved about 60%.

Kind of amazed at how expensive it is really.  They just gobble up those dollars don't they ?

I see now though, that they are increasing the prices.

IchBin

I haven't seen the prices lately. Where did you see the increase? I'm not too worried, my work is a MS partner so I'll get it cheap either way. :D

Renegd98

IchBin, if you have access to MSDN or Technet it is there already.  I got mine 6 August.
