Do I have to use the SME default theme or is it just now during the installation?

I will do my best to get this to work. The problem is with me I do not have much patience but I may try to be patient now, I have to! hahaha...

Otherwise I think Tiny Portal seems to be good for me so I can not say that I have any complaints. :laugh:

Anyways, I will go through your documents carefully and try to get this to work and If I would have problems then I turn to you for help. Thank you very much for your help!

Regards,

ZarPrime

Once you have completed the TinyPortal installation, you will be able to switch back to your custom theme.  The only thing you might have to do is to add a Forum button but we can cross that bridge when the time comes.

You'll be glad that you did it once it's done. ;)

Okay! Yes I gave it a try with the Forum button but could not find a similar code. But as you wrote, we can cross that bridge when the time comes. I must first get TP to work as I want it. I will go straight at it tomorrow night. I inform you tomorrow when I have installed the TP, we see how much help I have time to get. :up:

Cheers mate!

kalsson1

Yeah, I have installed the TP. Should we try to get the forum button in my costume theme now?  O0

ZarPrime

Great, that's the biggest step.

I'm not familiar with your custom theme but it's not difficult to add a Forum button to it.    Let me give you this link to read ...
How to add a Home button or a new tab?

This will tell you how to add the button.  I suggest you try it yourself first.  Download a copy of the "index.template.php" for your theme that you can work on.  Once you have done the edits shown in the topic above, you can backup your original file and upload the one you edited and try it out.  If you've done every thing right, you should see a Forum button in your custom theme once you are viewing it.

I have already tried to do it three times but in my index.template.php file it is not as it in your guide that is why I get a little unsure how I should do. The code looks different.

kalsson1

My index.template.php

<?php
// Version: 1.1.5; index

/* This template is, perhaps, the most important template in the theme. It
contains the main template layer that displays the header and footer of
the forum, namely with main_above and main_below. It also contains the
menu sub template, which appropriately displays the menu; the init sub
template, which is there to set the theme up; (init can be missing.) and
the linktree sub template, which sorts out the link tree.

The init sub template should load any data and set any hardcoded options.

The main_above sub template is what is shown above the main content, and
should contain anything that should be shown up there.

The main_below sub template, conversely, is shown after the main content.
It should probably contain the copyright statement and some other things.

The linktree sub template should display the link tree, using the data
in the $context['linktree'] variable.

The menu sub template should display all the relevant buttons the user
wants and or needs.

For more information on the templating system, please see the site at:

I have no idea where and how I should do this so you may be able to do it?

Try adding this after the Home button:

// Show the [forum] button.
echo '<li><a href="', $scripturl, '?action=forum"><span>' , $txt['tp-forum'] , '</span></a></li>'

[edit] Doh!.. It's 'tp-forum' not 'tp_forum'. Fixed

Care to elaborate? I'm not sure what you mean by: "Could not see the theme".
