IchBin told me I should ask this out here. Okay, sure. I have before. The new editor... it will make it almost impossible to run my site. One problem is that I MUST have my assistants be able to access the main image folders--not just their "own" images. Does that make sense? I have zillions of photos and art as page furniture, etc. Some of it is repeating. A lot is. I need the assistant's (global mods)  to be able to get in there and use this folder and its contents. Also, I do not throw all my graphics in one image folder, I have folders for each time period, plus all kinds of for things like ads, etc. I need THAT functionality. I went to TP because it would allow others to help me... is there NO WAY to make FCKeditor work w/ my site?? I wouldn't even mind the new one IF it had the staff being able to see ALL TP in the main image folders. Oh, and tables...

Tables
Alas. tables, it seems to ME that tables aren't really editable in that in FCKeditor, I can do things like change fills, bg's, etc. on the tables. This is also kind of important to my site. Mine is a website FIRST, a forum a distant second. I had tried Joomla first, but couldn't get it to work the way I needed and no one could/would help me. TP seemed to work, but it seems an update will remove something useful like showing an article in a block... It messes me up. The menu options DO seem to hold promise, but I couldn't figure out how to use them...

Anyway, back to my question... is there NO WAY to use FCKeditor w/ beta 3? And if I'm gonna be SOL w/ the new one, how can I make it so my assistants can work on pages and use the common art, etc. Oh, and make/edit tables.

I use a mod think the name is File Manager from SMF,  it shows my folders in the admin section and my staff uses it to access folders.

might give that a look into

I have looked at this. 2 things... can you restrict it to the global mods and also, when inserting art/pix can they just click or do they have to do code? Code doesn't work for a lot of these folks. :-\

For the editor: I find that using an outside wysiwyg editor like Dreamweaver, Word, NVU, Kompozer or any of them works best. You don't have to know coding and can just arrange the elements on the page and the program writes the code for you.

You can then switch to code view and copy the code and paste it into an article. You'll need to have editors turned off in TP before pasting into your articles. I do this for the articles on my site. If I need some fine tuning I can always edit the code in code view.

For file access: You can setup FTP accounts so your staff can upload their files. I highly suggest only giving them access to your image folders only. Also make sure you create separate accounts for each user. If you need to get rid of someone you don't trust, the other accounts will not be compromised.

Sure, I can do that. Easily. A lot of the reason I went to Tp though was because many of my assistants don't know HTML, etc. This is a hobby and they're not in it to learn coding, etc. I have DW and GoLive... I know FTP quite well. They don't. They ARE able to use myspace or something w/ a "console" which is why the FCKeditor was so good for them :uglystupid2:

IchBin

Well, it would be nice to see someone make these available as a module. This way, people get a choice in which editor they'd like to use.
