Active block and loads of red to green to update the site but still in red

try to not double click it, give it 2secs after you clicked for the animation to come up.

One other thing -- be sure that, before you try to activate the block, you have selected a place for it appear. At the bottom of the block defintion, there should be something that says:

Choose where the block should appear. [Show] [Hide]

Click [Show] and you will see a whole lot of options for where your block can show. Click one or more of the boxes and then click "Save". Then try to activate the block again.
