Blocks Missing

After a search I found some issues about missing blocks.. but no solutions to my issue.

This is a clean install of SMF 1.1.8 and TP 1.0 beta 3 and default theme.
The default sitemap block is not showing to me (admin) or anyone.
Newly created left and right blocks do not show at all.
New block have ALL groups toggled on, and activated in the block management.

I've even dumprf the entire installation, and reinstalled from scratch.. STILL missing blocks.

I can't even get a simple TEST of just test text block to show.
Something is not working here.

I have another site running SMF 1.1.8 and TP v0.9.8 working fine. (Think I'll look for and old TP download)

Did you check out the panel settings to ? and also, did you activated and checked WHERE the blocks should show up ?

You have a HIDE and SHOW options when you create or edit blocks, click on show and set up where you want the blocks to be visible and to who-

I didn't notice the hide show in the blocks at first.
That was the issue.
Why would this be hidden by default?
Why would block be set not to show at all by default?
You have to activate them anyway for groups.
Should new blocks show by default?
Just would make sense if you ask me.

It's just a matter of preference I think... many people (including me) like the simpler page with that looong list of page options hidden under the [Show] link.

As Ken said, it's mostly preference.  In previous versions of TP, the visual options for blocks were on a separate page.  After creating the block and saving it you had to then go to the visual options page for that block to set where to show it.  With the new version you don't have to do this.  You simply have to click [Show] to see the visual options on the same page.  This saves a step in the process.  As for your question about "Why would block be set not to show at all by default?" the simple answer is that you wouldn't want this since TP doesn't know what sections you want to show the block in until you check your preferences for visual options.  For instance, you may only want to show that block on the Front Page.

It's just something you have to get used to.  Yes, it's different than previous versions but it's better and easier, and more user intuitive.
