I am probably missing something simple, but I cannot see any link or menu item where ordinary forum members can upload or submit articles.

I have just installed TP 1.0.6 on a fresh SMF 1.1.8.

I have followed the info in the documents here relating to settings in Articles/Categories/Submissions where it says to set who I want to provide permissions to, but apart from the title "Submissions" the page is otherwise blank.

what am I missing?

If you have the permissions correct, they should se a link in the user block.

Hmm there is no user block, including for myself. I've set permissions in Admin to "can submit" but no user block.

I've been going through Admin to set articles. Theres obviously a problem.

No, you need to create a Block, type: User Block.

Or simply add a menu item(s): http://www.example.com/index.php?action=tpadmin;sa=articles

Rafferty,

You didn't Read and Reply to the Posting Guidelines, did you?  If you had, you would have seen that one of the things we need in order to help you is a link to your site.  Please provide this and someone should be able to help you.

This is a bit confusing. There is no setting for a Type: User Block

The menu item takes them to the Full Admin page it appears. Wouldn't they then have access to everything Admin does?

It's permission based. If you give permissions to add and edit articles, thats all they can do. The rest of the admin panel remains restricted.

Maybe this does need to be more user friendly, as opposed to admin friendly.

You are welcome to request in the Feedback, or bugtracker.. which has a feature suggestion.

"Only registered members are allowed to access this section."

at your site --> https://aadaa.asn.au/forum/index.php

We can hardly help you if we can't see what your Front Page and Forum looks like.  Please enable guests to see your Forum or we can't help you.  You don't have to allow guests to post, only to view.

Actually, my mistake. It's an Admin Tools block. I've been using a custom multi tab user block and tools, themes, profile etc are included there.
If when using the Admin Tools block, the only thing they should be able to see is the items that you give permissions for, under Permissions.

the Tools menu includes:

  • Upload file
  • Manage settings
  • Manage blocks
  • Manage articles
  • Manage Files

I would just add links for Uploading Articles in the main menu. I've never allowed my members to submit articles.. so how the permissions work with Article types.. I'm not sure.

And, it would help if you did follow the posting guide as ZarPrime suggested.

I honestly can't find any admin tool block anywhere or it's permissions. I recall it in 0.9.8 but I just can't see it with the new version.

Ive made a temp log on for ***** deleted**** so maybe you could take a look.
