I have tried to "upgrade" but there are multiple errors indicated as well as a recomenedation to uninstall the earlier version beta 2.

Should I uninstall beta2 before installing beta 3?

I am using smf latest with tp1.06 beta2 and that's the only mod.

Uninstall and then install, this question have been answerd allready to day. And it seems like that worked out well for the others.
Just make sure you backup first.

I think, from what posts i see, that the prescribed procedure is to

"just run it through the package manager - it will update itself. " from bloc...
and Ichbin "if you have errors, there's no other way to install without manually editing the code unless you can fix your errors."

wouldn't it be advisable to just post full instructions for the upgrade, addressing multiple procedures?

The problem is that if you modifed beta2 files in any way, the upgrade will fail. If you haven't, it should work just fine. But if that doesn't apply...

1. download SMF upgrade files for your SMF version, upload and run them. It will wipe any TP modifications, leaving your forum ready for..

2. Run TP 1 beta3 mod through package manager on the fresh files(TP data are untouched by this), and the upgrade should work without problems.

Thank you for responding.
What i have done as advised by G6 is uninstall the beta 2, then install beta 3. It seems to have worked fine and I am having some issues where the beta two version did not correctly use the html editor, so i am cleaning up some issues in articles with the new html editor which i like very much.

Overall, it is an impressive upgrade and the features are very nice and usable!

I'm trying to uninstall Beta 2 but I'm getting the same files failing as listed in this thread.

I would like to try and correct the errors but I'm not even sure where to start so I'm thinking of trying what Bloc has suggested above.  My question is, if I do this will I lose all of my installed modifications and settings to the said mods? (SMF mod settings and TP blocks, etc.)  I don't really have an extensive list of mods but I'm afraid if I need to reinstall them afterwords they will give me errors too.

Lastly, if I opt to do step 1 suggested by Bloc, would I download the large update from SMF and upload it via FTP and just run the upgrade.php file?

Thanks as always for the help guys.  :)

Yes,

bloc

You will not loose any TP data, blocks, articles etc.

Other mods I am not sure of, but basically most mods seem to allow you you to re-install them and pick up where you left - since SMF updates will occasionally wipe out their changes anyhow.

Thanks G6 and Bloc, I'm going to try this on a test server tonight.

How do I do it?
