Link to my site: http://www.donboscoforum.com
SMF version: 1.1.7
TP version: v0.9.8
Theme name and version: Dilber MC

to get more members and stop lurkers, i closed my forum to guests.  but i want my frontpage to still be seen by guests.  i noticed that my frontblocks are not being shown to guests while the right and left blocks are visible.

i checked the settings in tp admin, i had yes chosen in the setting that says "Allow guests to see news from the news board - even if guest are not allowed to see the board?"

in block manager, i checked every blocks in the frontblock and they are set to be visible to guests and members as well

can someone please point out what settings i'm missing here. thanks in advance

Panels ?  How are your settings for your panels

alving

left panel is on and it is not hidden in the forum
right panel is on and it is hidden in the forum
center panel is on and it is not hidden in the forum

thanks for the reply, G6

I don't think it will work that way, as SMF loads the login section before the center bar is output.

it seems that way, ichibin.  is there a workaround in this?  or will the new version of tp have this type of function, wherein guests can still see the frontpage eventhough they are not allowed to view the forum?

thanks!

ajg ,

In one of my forums using 1.0.5 beta 1, I use all panels on the Front Page, including Front Page blocks, except the right panel.  I haven't yet tried this in the latest version of TP but there is no reason why it won't work with that version for you as well once you decide to upgrade your TP.  You should then have that capability, including use of the new panel and block types available.

You can easily turn on guest access to the forum, and then in each board deny guests the ability to have access to them. There's no reason to turn guest access off completely like that if you want to have them only able to see the frontpage.

I think I must have misunderstood the problem.  I thought he was having trouble showing blocks on the front page.  My bad.
