Hello,

So here it is. I downgraded my forum to 1.17 so I could use tiny portal. Now I have my website all up and ready yet I came accross a problem. I want to import the members and topics from the old forum into the new one. This is what I did and it should work but I ust can't seem to figure it out and it's driving me nuts.

I droped the current smf_members on the site, then imported the one from the old forum. And it doesn't work yet when I import the one from the new site again it works fine not sure what I am doing wrong. I haven't tried the posts yet is there a way I can restore everything back to my new forum?

I would be really sad if I lost everything if someone could help me with this I would appreciate it.

Sounds like everything you're needing to do is a question for the SMF people. Not really TP related for forum posts and members.

True, Well I had to re-install my forum because I Wanted to use TinyPortal , So now I cant re install all my forum posts and members!

The reson you cant import members and posts from SMF2 to the older SMF 1.1.7 is because they are not made the same way.
It's like trying to put in a Chevy engine in a Mini Cooper
The SMF people have to make you some conveter before this will work.

I believe that the database structure in SMF 2.x is different than it is for 1.1.7.  That's why G6 said that it won't work.  This might be a better question to ask in the SMF forum to see if anybody has ever figured out a way to make it backwards compatible, or to revert to a previous version.

Ok thanks for your help thought maybe somene here could help me. Not getting very many replies over at smf

If you saved a backup of your database before you upgraded from SMF 1.x to 2.x then you could probably revert fairly easily, but without a backup of the old database, I would say it's next to impossible.  Sorry.

Very few of us use SMF 2.0 at all because of its incompatibility with TP. I've only just glanced at some code from SMF 2.0 myself.
