Unstalling 0.9.8 to upgrade to 1.0.6 Question

I am considering upgrading my 0.9.8 TP install to the newest version.  However, I can't uninstall via the package manager.  Is there a doc that outlines how to uninstall the code and all the files that TP is in?  Also, if I uninstall 0.9.8 and install 1.0.6 will the new version recognize the database info from the old version?

Here is the install for TP 0.9.8

Just follow the instructions in reverse order...(Make sure to back up your files before hand, in case something goes wrong)

And yes the new version will recognize the old DB, but you can't downgrade from TP 1.0.6 back to 0.9.8 unless you have a backup of your old DB

If you have a lot of mods installed besides tp, Lord Anubis way is what you have to do if the package manager doesent uninstall for you.

And if TP is the only mod you have, you can download the big upgrade package from SMF, extract the file on your PC, upload and overwrite the old files and you will have a fresh set of SMF files to install the newer TP to.

why do you can not unisntall? Because of the uninstall gives specific errors? Or because the uninstall link is missing? In that  case you should put a copy of the mod the package map on the server thru a ftp program.

I am looking to do this this morning...

My question is, like the privious poster, in the package manager of SMF, I do not see the "UNINSTALL" link.

So can I
1) re-install 0.983 on top of itself, then un-install, then install 1.0.6?
or
2) install 1.0.6 on top of 0.983 via the package manager without screwing my site up?
or any other instructions?

Thanks I did this afterwards...  So I uploaded the tp-0983 again, and now I see the uninstall link, but now when I try to uninstall, I get errors...

Looks like the uninstall, even with the failed test files, has worked... so now ill try to install 1.0.6
