Where are the articles and the category information kept?

This is a follow up to my earlier post, I have resurected my test portal, but reloading my files backup hasn't restored my menu/categories/articles. Is there any way I can recover them? I expect the text etc is stored in the d/b but how do I restore the articles?

The second part of this question is to prevent this happening again, what files should I backup when I add or modify articles?

Articles are kept in tportal_articles, and menu items are in tportal_variables. If those tables are intact, or you if have a backup of the db you should be able to resurrect them.

I suggest backing up these folders:

- root folder of SMF ( not the subfolders)
- entire Sources folder, or at least TP..files and Load.php
- default theme, all template files or at least index.template and TP..tempalte files.
- backup of db, both SMF and tportal_xxxxxx tables.
