Can't activate/deactivate Blocks

I've just done a clean install of SMF 1.1.7 with TP 1.0.6 beta 2, and am using the SlickPro Graphite V2 theme.

http://vongnation.co.uk

I've set up an RSS block, but I can't activate it. Nor can I deactivate blocks that are set as active upon installation. I click the red/green button, it changes, but when I refresh the page, it's back as it was.

I've searched the forum and seen solutions for the problem, but none of them have so far helped. I've tried 3 different browsers (FF3, IE7 and Google Chrome), clearing cache/cookies etc. on each several times... all with no luck. I've even tried going back to the default theme, but no luck there either.

I can create blocks, and move blocks between panels just fine, I just can't change what's displayed.

Any suggestions?

I'm going to assume that this is affecting captcha if you have it enabled on your site for registration as well. If you look at the source for your output on your page, you will notice that you have an extra line break/space at the top of your output right before the <doctype> tag. This is most often caused by a mod that didn't install properly. You need to find where this went wrong. I would start with the Modifications.english.php file. Make sure that there are extra spaces or lines before the <?php tag and after the ?> tag of that file. If that file is fine, then you need to start looking through the other language files for this. If the language files are clean I would then go through the Source folder files.

Other than TP, I have no mods installed. I installed SMF 1.1.7, then TP 1.0.6 beta 2, then the SlickPro_Graphite theme... and that's it!

Well, then something has gone wrong some where. Regardless, my instructions still apply.

Are you using IE or another browser?

I have found sometimes that IE has no problems to turn the blocks on and off and some version of Opera and FF have problems.

Paranoimia

Okay... I put extra lines at the beginning and end of the Modifications.english.php file, and that just added a 2nd blank line before the <DOCTYPE> tag, so I took them out again.

I've switched back to the default theme, which doesn't have the blank line before <DOCTYPE>, and the activation still won't 'stick'.

I just tried registering a normal user account, and CAPTCHA worked fine.

It fails on FF3, IE7 and Google Chrome.

I hade the same issues, and now at this point i think you have to do the same as me, ask your host about their security settings for ajax.
They lightend my security a bit and after that it worked fine again

If you'd like I can take a look. Feel free to pm me a temp admin account if so.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I've just PM'd IchBin with an admin account to see if he can spot the problem. If not, I'll get on to the host.
