Hi there,

I recently upgraded my forum to TP 1.0.6. with SMF 1.1.7
Some users, including myself, did use the WAP-mode frequently to read and post our forum.

With this new version I can't get rid of the left panel/block from TP, which uses a lot of screen space on a mobile  :'(
The shrink/expand java-button doesn't work at all in wap/wap2/imode. Not on my cellphone, not on my PC browser.

I've searched this forum and the SMF-forum, but can't find a working solution .... not even a lead to a solution. I've took a glimp at my TPwireless.template.php and Wireless.template.php but can't find something faithfull (allright, I know, I'm not a php guru)

All I want is the regular forum index, without any TP around.

Can somebody help me ? Tnx in advance !

If I remember right, Bloc has made quite a few changes in this area to make things work. Look for a fix in the next beta which hopefully isn't too far out. :)

Sledge HaMMeR

Okay tnx for the info ..... let's hope Bloc has lots of spare time to work on it. We've got pretty much users using it.

Wells here's a fix/feature that is in the latest release that Bloc is working on.

Nice nice

(I suggest we are talking about a v1.x release.)

Is there any ETA for it ?

Sledge HaMMeR

Tnx for the quick answer (again)
But there is not really some kind of ETA there, is there?

As the text i linked to explains, "when it's ready"  never a time or date given on something thats made on free time for fun

I was brainstorming for a temp solution today.
I was thinking, what if I make a 'shadow copy' of the entire forum, using the same database.

Let's say the board is at http://board.url.com/  (or http://www.url.com/board)
And the shadow copy, using the same DB is at http://mo bi.URL.com (or http://www.url.com/mobi)

At that point, would it be a very difficult to turn off (or perhaps uninstall) tinyportal for one of the URLs.

And if that is possible what would be advised ? Same cookies ?

EDIT
=====================================

It works. I know, it won't win the beauty contest, but it does what it should do.

1) make a fresh SMF install at a separate directory / subdomain.
2) copy the Settings.php file from your original forum
3) edit Settings.php and leave database and cookie settings for what they are, just modify $boardurl (line 35), $boarddir (line 50) and $sourcedir (line 51) to your current URL
4) some directories can/must be deleted, because they will be loaded from your original forum or you just don't need them. These are : Attachments, Package,  Themes, Avatars, Smileys.

Right now you have a shadow-copy of your forum, with a Tinyportal error on top ("You have turned on theme support for TinyPortal, but the mod itself is NOT installed!") and an error on the bottom (Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tportal_version() in /home/yourdomain/public_html/mobi/Sources/Load.php(1726) : eval()'d code on line 362). This will not have effect on the wap/imode function.

So ... your mobile forum can be reached at:
http://www.url.com/mobi/index.php?action=forum;wap
http://www.url.com/mobi/index.php?action=forum;wap2
http://www.url.com/mobi/index.php?action=forum;imode

Must have said, in my original forum I've turned on "Admin -> Server Settings -> Feature Configuration -> Use subdomain independent cookies". I don't know what the exact difference will be, if this is turned off and you use the same cookies.

And now we only have to wait till the next update of tinyportal

Enjoy your mobile board.
