Hey, I really like the portal from what I've tried on sites that have them but I'm kinda lost and hoping for help. I'm installing it for the first time and I downloaded "1.0.5 Beta" and I don't really understand the tutorial. When it comes to:

6.| In the folder "TPmanual-install" open the "tp-version.mod" that corresponds with the TP version you are trying to install. Browse through it's content to familiarize yourself with the editing instructions before actually doing so. Now, open a copy of the files in your "TPmanual-install/SMF/TP" directory with your editor, and follow the editing instructions from your "tp-version.mod" file. Remember when reading edit file instructions:

there's like 4 ".mod" files and I'm not sure which one to follow for a first time installer. When I open it I see stuff like:

<id>
TinyPortal
</id>

<version>
1.0.1
</version>

<mod info>
TinyPortal v1.01
</mod info>

<homepage>

</homepage>

<edit file>
$boarddir/index.php
</edit file>
<search for>
require_once($sourcedir . '/Security.php');
</search for>
<add after>
       // TinyPortal include
       require_once($sourcedir . '/TPortal.php');
</add after>

...

So my question is, if I'm using 1.0.5 Beta and I'm a first time installer, which .mod file do I follow?

Ken.

Hi Hakou, welcome to TinyPortal.

Did you try installing through the SMF package manager?
How do I Install TinyPortal?

If that will not work then look at this topic:
How do I manually install TinyPortal

EDIT: For a manual install you need the 'tinyportal1049.mod' file.

I got the TinyPortal to install both manually and automatically through the package option but even though it says successful, the index.php page doesn't load, why is that the case?

Probably because some or more edits didnt go throuigh correctly.

Go through the manuall codeedits one more time and check the edits so they got added correctly, also make sure when you save the file that it save the new changes.

I'm a first time installer...do I need SMF installed first?
Or is there a TP package that includes the latest SMF too.
