Running With Scissors

Lol  ;D I was wondering why you were asking me that. I just thought you were hinting that you already answered that question somewhere else.

Damn! I was just working to modify a game engine for SMF2 and so hoping that I could use TP for UI like HUD display.

Well I will be perfecting the integration till the TP comes as beta. But please do hurry guys. : D

Thats the reason you should read up on whats available before you start working on things....  ;)

Right but I actually started to work on this around 2 and an half years ago. Well I always like TP over other portal systems. I use my own code till TP for SMF2 comes.

Well longer you wait better and most secure it gets. (Or was it harder? : D)

Next question: When did it become a fashion to reply every single "When?" question with "When it is done?" . Don't get me wrong but this is most annoying answer ever. I know the reason behind it however this does not make it least annoying.

Can you tell me what is going to be happening in your life with your family or your job in the next year or so? Could you give me a date certain about when a specific project was going to be done, when that project is not your job and you merely work on it in your spare time?

We could pull a date out of thin air just to appease people for now, but when the date came, very likely it wouldn't be ready. Would that be preferable? Or would you and others be complaining that we had broken a promise?

I wouldn't dream of speaking for Bloc, but I know that when I'm working on something, the most annoying thing is to have someone coming along demanding to know when it's going to be done. It makes me not want to do it at all.

Just saying that being annoying goes both ways.

I believe making a roadmap for any project is foundation. When anybody here or any other project asks "When?" he/she is asking about this roadmap and how long did you estimate to achieve it. It is not a promise but only an "estimate".

Stuff I am working on is not obviously as professional, complicated or popular as yours. However I use following formula;

1) Make a road map
2) Estimate the time for each element
3) Add 2 months and give the date.

OK I am damn sure that this post will annoy you even more. Well I am an annoying guy for sure anyways. But I get royally pissed when I hear or read "When it is done.". Instead you can say "Estimated time will be given soon." I mean you are doing this for how many years now so you can surely do this. When you say "When it's done" it falls to my ears as "Well Duh!".

Are you pissed well join the club.

G6Cad

Bha, over and over again,
Please try and get through your heads that things done here on free time for free will NEVER EVER have a date set. if you cant live with that, fine, it's your headache not ours.

I know G6 locked it, but wanted to add a remark or two. Yes, it can be annoying when you depend on a product that it will take longer or even not have a gameplan set. There are times when i simply can't devote the time I like to it. I could hand it over to others, but it would no longer be TP after that, thats how i feel anyway.

SMF2 support is probably the most anticipated development of TP right now, but its big step. So many things have changed in SMF, many of which i actively have worked on, that TP needs to come late - but it WILL come. Personally I think SMF 1.1 is a killer and that TP works great with it as it is, but you can't stop development lol. :) SMF2 is really another product almost, sharing many functions but often working totally different internally. This is due to the nature of voluntary efforts of the dev team, in comparison to TP which have had only myself as active developer. I feel thats a strength, but just to explain abit of what goes on.

Delays are inevitable, and thats why the team and I have come to the conclusion thats its best to not promise out release dates. It might seem they are forever repeating it, but its human to ask again and again so... ;) At least know thats a project i will, save tornadoes or other catastrophic events preventing me from reaching a pc lol, work and improve upon for very long time yet.
