On this site I'm working on <www.great-war.org> why is the banner touching the top window?  It is especially annoying on the AEF theme. I am assuming I did something when I added the code to put the banner in??
Thanks for looking, M.

Out of reach for what we support here, the theme is SMF Default core, the banner is your own, the code you use to put it there we cant see as you didnt show us, and also you didnt share where in the index.template.php you placed it.

You have to ask this question on smf forums as it's their theme your working on

Can you add some padding to the bottom of that div that you put the logo in. Currently your css for the body has 12 pixels of padding on the top. If you want the same padding then add style="padding-bottom: 12px" to the div to make it the same spacing.

 is why I have probs w/ CSS... I don't really understand where that is even at. Index template?? I copied the code out of one of your posts when someone asked :-O I was all happy.. "It worked" then I saw it touching... I'll cast about in there.

I should add: A little bit of knowledge is a lot of dangerous :coolsmiley:

You'll get there. If you want to learn I would highly suggest you read up on some tutorials. CSS and HTML is the easiet markup language to learn. You can add css to any HTML tag  by adding a style="" attribute to it. For instance, to the div you put in for your logo you could do it like this:
<div style="padding-bottom: 12px;">

Thats all there is to it. Its preferred that you separate your CSS from your HTML as much as possible though. Which is why SMF has a style.css file. So to do it that way you would add a class to your style css like this:

.my_logo
{
    padding-bottom: 12px;
}

Then, instead of putting the style in your div, you call the class you just put in the style.css file like this:

<div class="my_logo">

Friggin' awesome!! And it worked!! Cool. Now I can play w/ more. So, style describes it, but class makes it work by surrounding w/ class in <div> tags... You don't know how you just opened my eyes there. Ah fels laik Helen Keller seein' fo' de firstest time :-)

Okay, might as well ask... now how do I rem the cell w/ the site name and smf logo?  8)

Okay, IchBin... check out site now. I haven't added the new posts art yet, but I think the themes are getting there... What do you think? Going to bed now... :-Þ

Looking good. :) Told you that you'd get it. You're just getting started, so enjoy the ride. :D

Thanks!! The Firebug program is really helpful and the things you've shown me are just making it waaaay easier.

Now, if I can figure out how to redo the profile pages in something where I can LOOK at the page, then change to the php I'll tacle that :-)

I did get THIS today:

Don't know what causes it but I can't see all of the text on the website. I have a 15" screen and not a 17", it won't let me scroll over - for example - I can't see or get to the British or Russian links on the unit page - this is consistent for every page in that some text is cut off, not visable or accessible.

Otherwise looks pretty good
