So, this is the latest in a long list of issues we've had with this TP install, but here goes...

So, our forum is running on SMF 1.1.6 and we had upgraded from SMF 1.1.4 with TP 0.98.  Did the upgrade to 1.1.6 and TP 0.98 wouldn't work anymore so I had to upgrade to the 1.0 beta, because that worked for some reason.   Did the upgrade and all was fine until I tried to mark an article as featured.  When I did that, ALL the articles disappeared and my front page threw an error saying that "that article isn't available, hasn't been approved, isn't active or doesn;t exist" (all of which are false).  Tried everything to fix it, change categories, everything I could think of.  In the end, we decided to try and uninstall TP and reinstall.

Well, I don't know if you guys have ever had any luck with that, but it's never worked for me properly, there's ALWAYS an error.  So, decided that the only way around that safely was to do a complete SMF reinstall.

Did the reinstall of 1.1.6 and everything installed just fine.  Installed TP 1.0 beta 2 and (the newest one) and it gave the confirmation screen saying that everything had installed correctly and I was happy 'cause I thought all was good.

I was wrong.  None of the TP stuff displays.  Not in the admin panel, not on the front page, not on the forum sidebar.  It says it installed, but it looks exactly like it did before I installed it, there's not a TRACE of it.

SO, this leads me to believe that there is something DB-wise that is behind this because all of the source files are virgin, brnd-new files when I did the install.  So, I'm assuming there is some flag stored in the db that tells TP whether it's ON or OFF and that's messed up or something, I dunno.  ANyhow, it's VERY frustrating and disappointing, so if anyone has any ideas, please throw them this way.

Thanks.

Doesn't appear in default core theme either.

The theme I'm using is setup for TP and it was working yesterday before the whole debacle.

Awesome.  I did the manual install and all is good.  Except that my front page article still throws the article missing, not yet approved or whatver else error.

I had read that could be related to it not being in a cateogry, but it is in a category and when I try to create new categories, it creates them in the db, but the forum doesn't seem to find it.  Oddness.

A BIG bug that will be fixed in the next bugfix release of TP.
Cant say when that will be, but not so far away  :D

The not yet approved error is not part of that bug i think. Are you sure that is the error you are getting? What is the exact error?

darylbowden

Sure, here's the error on the front page:

And here's what the admin looks like for articles:

You can see it's in a category called no-name.  However, I TRY to create other categories (and they DO get created in the db), but they don't appear on the front end, so I can't select them.  So, when trying to edit the individual article itself and trying to select a category, this is what I get:

And for whatever reason, there are NO choices in that category dropdown, so it remains "not assigned."  Not for lack of trying, rather because TP doesn't recognize the categories I DO create.

I don't remember that setting being part of the bug G6. I'm able to change these settings on my site just fine. I suppose it could be related to the other bugs. But I'm able to change the category for my articles just fine.
