[HELP] Using Articles as Static Pages

That is the page I am reffering to and I noticed it was pretty much used as a static page. But my question is how do I do that with out anything showing up on the front page of my site?

Sorry this is a newb question but I havent been using this software for very long.

Oh man never mind you just have to turn click on on the "show on frontpage" option.
