A Salute to Yauws

Now and then I visit www.yauws.com. This week I learned Kevin took his site down. All you get is a dedicated Apache-message.

MyIBPortal was the first block-software I learned to work with and it helped me to turn several Invision-forums into portals. Then Invision started to charge money and I moved to SMF and a after bumpy ride with Joomla! I landed  2 smoothly running TP-community sites.

In the mean time some idiot got his filthy hands on Kevins sourcecode and started to sell it as his own. As a result Kevin quit developing and www.yauws.com turned into a very quiet website, put out of order some days ago.

Kevin, thank you for your work and your idea's. I hope we meet again somewhere on cyberspace.

I can only agreed - while I didn't use Invisonboard at all I did get very inspired by the SMF port of it, or what was been worked upon. it came to a sudden halt when the theft happened, but it WAS that portal that got me trying to use the theme system/layer system to make the first TP. Just as he was using the layer system already, though slightly more stand-alone.

Too bad it never became of. But thanks for inspiring work back then, Kevin.
