Regarding article categories in SMF1.1.6 & TP 1.0.6 beta.

1) After upgrading to tp106beta my article CATLIST is empty, and the article category menu items I had since before couldn't show the categories anymore (i.e. a blank page is shown except the blocks).

2) Then, when adding a new menu item pointing to a category it first looks ok, but as I afterwards try to edit the menu item the all available categories are gone in the dropdown list.

3) I cannot create a new top category anymore, since the ones I've tried to create simply don't turn up in the category list. (BUT I can create a new subcategory and in the list of categories I may change it afterwards to a top category...)

i have symptoms similar to what you describe (same versions all round), have just been doing a bit of investigating. i offer my findings here in case it helps!

i presume we're talking about index.php?cat=XX listings?

in my case...
- previously existing category with previously existing articles displays ok.
- new category with new articles displays no articles.
- previously existing category with new article displays ok.
- new category with previously existing article displays no articles.
- all articles exist and can be viewed with index.php?page=XX

(i too have some funnies on the admin side for categories but have yet to methodically work out what they are!)

ok i have tracked down my problem in this case... which was the use of the Layout Type: Just Links
all other layout types seem to work ok for me.

be interested to know if others can repeat this experiment.

Yep, and index.php?action=tpadmin;sa=clist which doesn't show any categories at all...

Nope, my preexisting categories don't show up at all...

Quote- new category with new articles displays no articles.
Same here...

Yep, all articles exist and are active - but cannot be viewed  :o

Mmm, I wonder: Is it possible to downgrade to tp105beta1 again without any fuzz in the MySQL tables that may effect the functionality?

Or how can I make the support/dev team to look into these issues? Of course I'll hand over a login account if required.

You cant downgrade by uninstall and then reinstall older version of tp.
You muct have complete backups of both all the files on the server and a complete database backup in order to go back.

If you dont have that, your stuck as it is.

OK. Fact is I have a backup :). On the other hand, of course I'd prefer to sort this issue out since there were some nice other modifications in beta 2 that I liked a lot :)... On yet another hand, I could rewind with the help of the backup and try to install beta 2 yet another time, just to see what happens...

Now I have figured out that the only way to view my articles is to first set the frontpage flag ON for them... ??? But then, they are showed title-less...
