I have SMF 1.1.6 with its default theme and TP 0.9.8. Everything is working fine http://www.bigislandforum.org/forums/index.php.

I've also had blue101_11final_tp sitting on my HDD for a couple years but it's not installedâ€"I got confused trying to figure out which version worked with smf and trying to get it to work so I gave up and now use SMF’s default theme.

From the email notification about TinyPortal v1.0.6 beta 2 it seems as though I would have to manually remove tp 0.9.8 from the various smf directories and retype all that it now contains. Is this correct?

I’m unwilling to risk messing up the forum by trying to upgrade to TP 1.0.6 beta2 unless it upgrades as easy as SMF upgrades.

Question: Is the goal to make it so the final version of tp will be easy to upgrade from  0.9.8?  In other words, I can't imagine myself ever risking going into directories and files to manually uninstall 0.9.8.

Thanks,

Kerry

The release of Beta 2 we have announced to day is stopped, i have removed the package from the downloadsection as it is something wrong with the db upgrade process.

To answer your question, you can read the topic in the news board about the install and upgrade process, it's easy if you dont have a lot of mods installed and your server are configurated so you dont have issues uninstall/install mods.

From tp v098 you need to compleatly remove the old tp files and codestrings before you can upgrade and use the Beta2

Its enough to make sure the SMFfiles are "clean", best way is to simply upload the upgrade SMF files, overwriting exisiting ones. You can safely leave the old TP files, and just upload TP 1.0.6 and install it. It will then modify SMF files and resurrect the TP data.TP files will also be overwritten then and any obsolete TP files just ignored.

Thanks Bloc, working fine again :)

(Going to play with all new things later)
