Ok, but are those edits meant for the index.template.php file? Thats what I'm not seeing stated anywhere. Im assuming that, but Im not familiar with these files enough to know for sure. Thank you .

Can you please, look at the page you see from the link ?

ALL the code TP adds to the SMF files are on that page. For all files.

You have errors on index.template.php, you asked if it was only that file you needed to edit if you installed, i answerd Yes at that. Then you asked about what file to see what code to add to the index.template.php, i show you the link to the page holding that info, the code to add in and where to the index.template.php ( and also it holds the edits for all files if you look at the page )

So read the page, look at the code, and add it in according to the descriptions on that page.

It clearly say

QuoteOPEN FILE:
index.php

and then a bit down, it say the same for the next file you need to edit and so on.
Right in the center.... of the page all the way down.

Ken.

triangular, try looking at it with a different browser... in FF3 I'm seeing the same as you, in IE7 its better and in Opera it looks as it should.

We are taking a look at why its not showing correctly in all browsers.

I concur with G6.

I dunno what else to tell you.

It is centered with BBC code, so if it isn't the same in all browsers(which it should be), then it could be a SMF thing? or perhaps the BBC code is arranged?

The file you should edit is centered on the page. Then follow edit instruction for that file, then move on to the next file.

You guys might have thought I'm daft, but thats not it. I think you don't realize that in FF3 you cant see where it says what file to open.

Now I found it, and you're right its in the CENTER of the page. But it doesn't appear to be the center at all in FF. How many pixels wide is that page?

What I see is a page in the center of the display, the whole page centered within a grey background. So it has a border on the sides of the whole page. Then if you scroll ALL THE WAY to the bottom of that mod instruction page, you finally see a scroll bar at the very bottom of the page. If you grab that bar and yank it all the way to the right, you'll finally see what you call the "center" of the page.

But that means users have to go all the way to the bottom of the page first, which they wont do if they are working their way down the page making edits...and scroll it accross, and then go all the way back UP the page to see what filename they should be editing...THEN go all the way back DOWN again to to the scroll bar to move it left again, and go back UP the page again to see the text they are suppose to be looking for and editing.

Working your way through the edits means scrolling UP, DOWN, Right and Left constantly. And nobody would assume there is a far right border to scroll into in the first place, since the whole page does already appear to be centered on the screen.

My suggestion is to take the OPEN FILE text OUT of the "center" and move it in the FAQ all the way FAR LEFT, so that its ALIGNED with the rest of the text on the screen, and not hidden in some invisible center section of the page. Make sense? Its no wonder I couldnt find what you guys were talking about.

Now that I have found the reference to the right files for editing, I do still have a problem. My Babylon theme index does pass the install test, so I guess I could just use that theme and be fine, but if I want to make the edits on the default theme which is failing the test, I am unable to locate the lines to edit, which this instruction doc is referring to. If I cant find those lines in my default theme's index.template.php file in order to edit them, then I guess this is why it was failing to pass the install test. So how can I do it manually if I can't find them either?

Thank you for all your help,

Christian

QuoteYou guys might have thought I'm daft, but thats not it. I think you don't realize that in FF3 you cant see where it says what file to open.

It does show, you just have to scroll sideways to see it in FF. I have checked and also IchBin have checked, and it soes show.
And we are looking into why it behaves that way in FF3 and not in older versions.

QuoteSo how can I do it manually if I can't find them either?

Uninstall your other mods that have changed the same lines and install TP first, and then install the smaller ones after.
If that is to much work, you have to use the trial and error way and add the TP code where you think it suits best and change the location of the strings if they dont look good on the page,

There are no easy way.

Ken.

The instruction page has been changed so the the "Edit File" instruction is left aligned and the text has also been made bold making it easier to see.

There is however an issue still remaining with scroll bars for the code so until that's resolved you will need to take care to get all of the code when you do a copy/paste from some of the sections.

I cannot access via FF or IE. Both show a 404.

Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at docs.tinyportal.co.uk.

QuoteInternet Explorer cannot display the webpage

I am experiencing no other internet problems. Permission problem perhaps? (guessing here)

At any rate, is the documentation for a failed test on index.template.php located anywhere else? This is all I need. Thanks.
