I hope this is the place to ask.

If one wanted to incorporate a shopping cart such as Zen Cart, would an I-Frame be the way to use or implement such a function?

I've search the forums but no real answer, hope someone can help.

Thanks - Guy Fuller

If Zen Cart docs, wiki, or forum have a way to embed the software into a webpage, then we can help you do that. If they don't have any such option, then you may be best to use an iFrame.

I would ask the software developer if they have embeded it into a page on a website or whether it is "stand alone".
Having never used shopping cart software myself, I have no way of knowing.

An IFRAME would probably be your best option to keep your navigation uniform throughout the site, but you may have some concern with bridging the commerce software within the forum. This may display two login links silmutaneously, each being totally separate from the other, and potentially confusing your clientele.

As an option, you may need to provide a link to your 'store' software and allow it to run adjacent to your forum directory, versus 'under' its control. Perhaps run the store as a sub-domain too.

With careful planning, you may be able to duplicate a navigation and theme to match your site, to make it all seamless as possible. Still a minor concern for confusion about being logged into your store or your forum.

I set up a store as a sub-domain, as I just did not prefer the IFRAME option. This primarily because the blocks around the frame did not change- only the content within did, and I was displaying dynamic information (shoutbox, other stats) in the blocks.

Good luck!

Thanks ZTN and Ianedres,  that will help me make my decision in the next several weeks.  Appreciate your feedback.
