Manage Articles.
Categories.
When displaying a category it would be good to be able to choose the display order. Currently everything is displayed using the date. Newest Items first.
I am using the articles section to display the Biographies and Profiles of Djs. As you can probably tell, the Dj that gets entered first will end up on the last page. Not so good.

My current work around: Modify the date that the article was posted. Its not tidy but it works.

Solution: Add the ability to change the way a Category is displayed. There are 2 obvious ways I can think of doing this.
1) Add it to the front end and let the user choose.
or
2) Add an options page to each Category on the "Edit Categories" page.

I think that option 2 would be the best, that way the admin can have the site the way he/she wants it to look AND more options can be added. Things like...

The number of articles to show on each page per Category.


Bugs.

Article Time.
When changing the time that an article was posted, the time offset setting is applied.
for example. My forum has an offset of "21". So if I modify the post time to 00:00 (12am) the time displayed is actually 21:00 (9pm).

Its not really a big thing, and I’m not sure if there is a fix for this. I just thought I would point it out.


Article Creation.
When you create a new article the "Date:" and the "Viewing options:" are missing. I can understand why the date is missing (I would assume its so the current date and time can be used), but is there a reason why the viewing options are not there until you go back and edit the article?


Sub-Categories Display bug.
When adding/editing an article the drop down box displays the Categories in alphabetical order, which is great. Unless you have sub-Categories.

The sub categories are also included in this order and therefore not displayed under the right parent. (As can be seen in the screen shot).

Is this intended or is it some sort of display bug?

When you create a Header you have 2 boxes to fill out. The "Title" box and the "Item" box.
It seems than when I fill these out and press "send" the "Item" box empties and I need to fill it out again in the "Menu manager". Selecting edit and filling it out that way also results in the box being emptied again.


Number of posts to show on frontpage.
The number entered in here does not correspond to the number of posts shown.
It seems that 1 less post is displayed the number entered in the settings.
Eg. Number of posts to show on frontpage = 5 â€ââ,¬Å" Actual number of posts displayed = 4




Well, that’s all I have played around with at the moment, and I have been up all night so I hope most of this makes sense. If I come up with any more ideas or find any more bugs I'll just add them to this post.

The Item box emptying as described here happens to me too - using SMF 1.1 RC2 with TP 0.8.6 and TP Amber theme.

I think I'm coming to grips with the logic of TP 

Am I right in thinking that this "Header" option is intended for putting a header item (that doesn't link anywhere, like a spacer) on top of some sub-menu links/articles/categories in the menu block?  If so, it's not working for me    Although I select a menu item as a header it still appears as a clickable link / dot point.

If I'm totally off the track, please let me know

Yes, it is. And it has a bug, which I hopefully will be able to post a fix for today(along with other bug fixes).

Me too.

It gets a little silly to allow author to manually update the date/time during edits. Is it possible to add a button to update the date/time manually (like some blog engines do)?

And I was hoping to use the date/time field to publish an article (like a Merry Christmas greeting) on a specific date. At the moment, future articles also show up.

Yes, they do show up, because the date is just an logging/order tool..not a tool to turn articles on or off. Thats another setting by itself. Turn the article  "off" until the date you want it to appear. And since the date is set in the future, it will be first - of course you can also set it as "featured", and then it will always be first.

But I'll still have to manually on it right? I was hoping that it gets switched on by itself, say, the frontpage also checks the article date and show only those that were earlier than the current time.

Its still manual yes.

In order for automatic to work, several changes have to be made, including adjusting for user timezones. I can't promise when this will be looked upon though.
