Hello,

Recently I have installed TinyPortal v1.0.5 beta 1. Although I have ran into some minor issues I was able to repair / fix most of it manually, sometimes with the help of supporting members posting on this forum.

I have chosen to install the new version knowing it's 'just' a beta version (hence it was even remarked as being an alpha version on this forum) but I am pretty happy with how things are working now so I was wondering about one thing:

If the next update is available (beta 2) and perhaps later even the full release, how does an update work? I had to manually modify some files, for example in the current theme files in use... would I need to do that again?

currently installed:

  • SMF: SMF 1.1.5
  • MOD/Package:TinyPortal 1.0.5 beta 1
  • Theme: Dilber MC Theme (some files I needed to manually fix to work correctly with TinyPortal)
  • No other mods/packages/addons installed.

I am totally aware that installing a beta version could lead to the need of a clean re-install, I am hoping that an update can be installed on top of the currently working version aswell...

(If you might ask yourself why I worry about an update if I state I am happy how it works now, reason is I am accepting a few flaws which are already registered in the bug report system and seem to be fixed in beta 2)

Thanks ahead for any comment / remark.

Most of the time is just a simple replacement of the files and pointing the browse to the manual tp install file. No uninstalling.
So easy going  :)
