Just to add, I noticed an odd phenomenon....

I can view both TP columns in FireFox.
But the moment I use IE 6 (6.0.2900.2180.....)
I can only see both TP columns when I am logged out. The moment I login, I only see the middle column. No side columns. And no, I don't get the ' - ' boxes at the top menu either. This was reported by one of my members and initially I didn't believe her, till I tried it out myself. Really odd.

Did anyone encounter this problem?

Are you logged in as a different user? When you login are you checking the upshrink buttons to see if they are collapsed or expanded? Can you provide a link for us to see?

crip

Also in IE-7 when you hit Alt+P to preview an IE tool bar pops up.. kind of annoning..

Hi IchBinâââ,¬Å¾Ã,¢,

No I was not logged in as another user. And yes I checked if the UpShrink button was enabled but it was not. In fact both Shrink buttons for the left & right columns were missing.

I PMed you my site's address. Hope you recieved the PM.

One thing I noticed, the problem might be a membership issue.
Normal members - could see both columns in IE6
Specific members - could not see both columns in IE6

Thats the weird part.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to investigate this issue. Hope you might have some suggestions on what actions I could take.

IchBin

I just created an account at your site. I see both sidebars while logged in and out, both in
Firefox and IE. Can you give me access to an account that is having problems?

Apologies for replying so late. Had an urgent matter to attend to earlier.
I have granted the account membership that had the display issues. Please give it another try.

edit:
I just did a test to determine if it REALLY was membership issues.
We know the following:
Normal member - could see both columns in IE6.
Specific members - could NOT see both columns in IE6.
There is an option in SMF 1.1RC2 that allows you to have a Primary Membership and Additional Membership.

So I went ahead and tried:
Primary Membership = Normal
Additional Membership = Specific
The member can now see both columns! (Of course the above is only a workaround and not an actual solution, the member's name is still colored as a NORMAL member)

I am bumping this. Normally I wouldn't do such a thing, but really need some help here because I just don't know what else to do. I just fail to understand why logged-in users who use IE can't view the side columns on my board, but the moment they logged-off, they can see the side columns.

I understand both IchBinâââ,¬Å¾Ã,¢ and Bloc might be very very busy. And thank them for their help, but maybe they could take a quick look at the problem? And maybe advice me on what action to take.

Sorry for sounding so desperate but I am at a loss on what to do now... I waited for TP v0.8.6 and was really looking forward to using it. I really dun want to remove it. :_(

I would first try to see if any of the blocks have some wrong code. IE often stops rendering if the html is slightly wrong.Try turning off all custom blocks, any html or php types. If it then works, turn on one by one and see which give the strange behavoiur.

If it still does this after that, then I must assume its something with the theme -  for the same reasons, and will need to look at that.

Bloc thanks for your reply. It was most helpful and aided me in fixing my problem.

The problem was my ignorance! I didn't know that each individual blocks can be seen by a defined membership group. And that the controls were in the Manage Blocks>Edit Blocks section.

I really feel silly now. But I really appreciate all the help. Thanks to Block and IchBin for their efforts. /bow
