Request/Suggestion for Article Management

I have been beta testing the new Article Management and I see it's a step close to what I need.

Basically, I need to have article management restricted to certain categories. Currently, you can either edit your own articles or ALL articles. What I need is for article management permissions by Category. So you could give permission to somebody to manage/edit articles in a Category and all sub-categories and articles. Possibly even in several Categories and their respective sub-categories (checkboxes come to mind).

I also noticed, the Article Access only works if the portal theme is used. If you do full custom html (by checking the box where you say no templates) then access restriction goes out teh window, and everybody is able to see that article regardless of permissions.


Last but not least, an improvement has been made by allowing articles within a category to be collapsed in the Article Manager admin page. However, when I went to click to collapse a category and all the sub-categories of that category, to my disappointment, nothing happened.

It'd be of great administrative help (and make things so much easier logistically) if categories could be expanded and collapsed as well within their parent categories.

I thank the TP devs for their efforts, and hope they take into consideration my suggestions.

Was this ever implemented? I need the ability to either allow permission by article or by category...

By category has been implemented. There is currently no way to restrict by article, but articles need to be in a category to be seen.
