Smoky

which smf and which tinyportal are you using?

you do not edit the index.php for a forum button, it is in the index.template.php file, for a customized theme.

the more info you give the better someone can help you. if you can post your home and search buttons, and use the

[c o d e] put the code like this [/c o d e ]

someone can help with this  ;)

We cant help you unless you give us the info we need.
Ken allready asked you to read the posting guide and for you to add in the info we need to know according to the guide.

Add a button to the index.template.php file yes, but for what theme ?  The themes are diffrent and if we dont know the theme, we dont know the code thats used allready.

Please read the posting guide Ken linked to, apply the info we ask for there, and after that, we should be able to pinpoint you in the correct way to add a button.

If you had done it in your post under Kens, you would have gotten it solved right there, instead you get upset.
Help us help you, and we all go away happy  :D
