I don't know what's going on here but the package manage dosn't work i gt th 534 line error.

yes package is 777 , and i filled in the ftp info in package-->options because that's the only place I could find it.

and reading through the manual install i get stuck at the themes/default/index.template.php part where the code differes alot from what i see on my screen.

using smf 1.1 rc2

Not really something you "have" to worry about if you don't plan on using the default theme. You can make all the other modifications to the files and then install a "TP" theme so you can see TinyPortal. I think on page 29-32 or so I actually posted the modified index.template file for RC2 if that's what you're using.

Sorry if this is a newbie question, but how do I know the installation of Tinyportal is successful?

Everything went fine.  I go to the test directory where I installed SMF, load the index.php and I see my SMF forum, but I dont see any TP options?  What should I see?

Thanks.

You should see side panels on the index page in the default theme.
