I am using smf 1.1.5.  All is well until i install TP v1.0.5. the forum will not show up. Here is the error msg i get: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. on install i had errors on index.template.php and admin.php which i corrected using the manual edits from the doc site. If i uninstall TP i see the forum again??

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

SoulPleX

Actually it broke everything...Help, Calendar, search.....

SoulPleX

I notice that it does not convert to new string. Shows index.php?action=forum instead of index.php/action,forum.html. is it something wrong with the querystring? i checked the edits and they are all there.

Please do not double, triple or keep adding posts.

Edit the opening post and somebody will not miss it.

Thanks.

That is actually the way it is made, if you have HTML in the end you must have SEO or pretty links mod installed.
Your install went bad for a reason, i guess it went bad because of other mods and/or you didnt install TP with your forum set to use nothing but all defaults.

Look at the manual install instructions in the doc section and follow the instructions.

I dont have any mods installed at this time. I followed the instructions from http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=23127.0 and it still doesn't work. I cant figure out what went wrong. help..search...forum...all go to a blank page. if i uninstall TP all those links work again. Which TP edits changes te way those links are read? maybe i can focus there..

Can you take some time and read our posting guide we have in the sticky topic for the install board.
Fill in the info about your setup we have asked for in that post.
We are giving support in total darkness here as you dont supply any info about anything except that it's not working for you.

That is the error you see on the bottom of your frontpage.
And also the solution to your issue  :)

When you install any mod to your site, the most important thing you need to remember is to have EVERYTHING set to use nothing but Defaults. Default SMF Core theme, and Default English language ( not utf )

Install all mods ( TP included as it's a mod to ) through you manager, if that gives error during the install, dont proceed and go for manuall install instead. Also this has to be done to the Default Core theme.

When you have everything working in your defaults, you can go ahead and install the themes you like.
If you used TP V098 you will have to make sure you use nothing but themes that are made for TP, pure SMF themes will not show any blocks or tp content, and also the error that show in the bottom of your page there is what you get. It cant find the TP strings, and therefor it cant load the page.

So
1. set everything to default.
2. Uninstall your themes except the defaults ( Core, Babylon and classic )
3. Install TP, try to use the package manager first, and if that doesent work, do the manuall install in ALL steps.
4. Check your install so everything works.
5, Install the themes you want.

PS) if you use and install TP V1.0.5, you can use any theme AFTER you have TP installed to the default Core, you will just have to add the forum button code to the theme.
If you want to use mexh, you must download the mesh that have the TP in the file name ( TP Version )

I did all that you outlined  above. the error you mention goes away after the install is complete. however, i still get blank pages wen i click on forum, search, help...im using the default core theme.

With a pure smf 1.1.5 install all links work as they should. after the tp install forum, search, help.... stop working.
