Okay while writing this message I got the "whacky" idea to test if I could use firefox to create a php block.  So I create a new left block, and choose php then submit it, and it opens up with a simple editor, I enter all the bbc/html coding that I need, I save it, I then choose the options on where it will display, I save it again, Im now back at the editor window, I then choose bbc/html from the dropdown selection above the main body entry box, choose save one more time, and then go to the blocks area and activate it and it shows up.  If I need to edit it, I simply change the box back to php and hand edit it, then change it back to bbc/html and save again.

Anyway, that's the work around that I came up with while writing up the post below the hr line.  If there is a simpler way of just using Firefox to enter a BBC/HTML block with the beta v1.05 I wouldn't be opposed to hearing about it.  :P

P.S. No updates found for Firefox according to it's Help/Check for Updates system.

Honest to you know who, I spent about 20 minutes trying to search so please don't get  :tickedoff: about this question.

Okay, running forum 1.1.4 and TP 1.05

In Internet Explorer 7.0 when I go to enter a block of any kind everything is fine, but when using Firefox 2.0.0.14 the whole body input field box is missing (see screenshot).  Is this a known issue that is a problem with firefox or with TP 1.05 beta?

I'd like to use one browser or another, but with I.E. it gets an operation aborted message when trying to do certain admin actions, so I need to use Firefox, but with Firefox when I wish to add a new bbc/html block it's missing the body input field so nothing can be entered.

wow, you're absolutely right!  I thought it was just me, but in FireFox I can not see the bbc/html code and with IE I could   :o   For once I'm not crazy   :idiot2:

I have absolutely no problems with the editor in html/bbc.  You guys make sure its not the  theme causing the problem. After that, I would say its possibly a mod or something you have installed if the editor is not showing up.

I tested on the SMF default theme and same thing   ???  could be a mod, but i'd hate to uninstall everything to find out.

I have the exact same problem, it is a custom theme (which judging by the above posts should not be the problem), and I have no mods bar TP. My set up can be seen in my sig.

I cannot give my head when the problem occurred since I dont add blocks often, but it may well have been right after the update.

Since I only use FireFox it is rather unpleasant surprise, I read only now that it works in other browsers.

Since its about 2 months old topic, did anyone come up with a fix? Searching the forums gives no answer.

edit: for now I solve this problem for myself with firefox plugin IE-tab

Bluto

I know, I know, this an old topic. But it's the one I found.
This problem is getting even stranger.
About a week ago, I was using Firefox2 so I could use the HTML and BBC blocks. I had to toggle back and forth between HTML, and a script block to be able to see the input box and the editor. I had switched back to FF2 because I couldn't get anything to work in FF3.
Then, I formatted this laptop and tried for an XP install instead of Vista, which I really don't care for. But,...alas...I couldn't get everything to work, so I'm back to Vista again.
I first started with FF3 and found the same old problem, no input box for HTML blocks.
So I went back to FF2,...STILL NO HTML input block.
Next I switch to IE7. Okay, now I have an input box and an editor, but not the one I want. I can't switch to WYSIWYG. It defaults to FCK.
A small piece of data in the rear of my cranium returns to the front. I have to set my article editor preference in my profile. I set it to WYSIWYG and save.
I go back to edit an HTML block,( in either FF2 or IE7), and it works agian like it used to. Meaning I can get it to work again if I toggle back and forth between script and HTML block.
So I guess I just figured this out again as I wrote this.....LOL... :uglystupid2:    :2funny:
As a side note. I didn't upgrade to 1.06 because of the Article problems with it.
So maybe it will still be useful to anyone else having the same issue and tries a search for missing HTML input box.
Sorry to waste your time admins, but I don't think I would have figured it out again unless I went through this whole stupid process.   :o
