TP 1.05: Fade in Article? Is it working, if so how?

Hi,
I've attached a screenshot how I have one category setup but for some reason the articles don't fade in like I would assume they would.  Could someone point me to the docs that explain how this function works or tell me what settings I've got wrong?

P.S. I've tried it with the core default theme as well but nothing fades in, on my home page for this site, it lists the titles of the articles on the right side of the main body of the page, and when I click on them, it just takes me to the article.

I'd like to figure out how to get this working if it's at all possible in either the invazion theme or the core default theme.
