Hello, everyone

First of all I want to thank, and Congratulate the whole tp team, you guys really pushed my SMF-Board to the next level with this mod!

Heres my Question:
I added some new Features to my project, doing so by using some external scripts (like an webdirectory) and putting them with an iframe into a html- article.

Everything works just fine with IE, Firefox and even Safari on a PC, so it does on a mac with Firefox and Camino. But not with safari on mac...

Since my project is a portal for recording-artists, of whom many use macs this is a really big problem since safari is the choice of most mac users :'(

The articles are displayed centered, so ther´s not enough space for the contenc of the iframes.(see atached picture)

the project I´m talking about is located at www.recording-treff.de, the menupoint "Webkatalog" (german for directory) for example uses the above discribed articles.

The piece of code I´m using in the articles is:

<IFRAME src="http://www.recording-treff.de/klanz" width="9999" height="1600"  frameborder=0 scrolling=no></IFRAME>

Does anybody know what is causing safari to center the article?

thanks in advance and greets

musicmacher

Since I know that there's not really a Mac guru here, you would most likely find better help if you used google. Search for Safari and iframes. I seen a couple of pages that had some intersting things you could try.

It's unfortunate that they are unwilling to change... Apple seems to think that its OK and even includes a download link for FireFox on their site.

Well I just might look somewhere else.
But thanks for trying...

Who said anything about Windows? Ken was referring to the fact that you and your users are using an inferior browser....

G6Cad

And as a sidenote, been using mac for 15+ years on my work and have a lot of contacts from macworld forums and over 80% uses firefox for mac, and not the built in safari browser ;)

Ken.

As IchBinâ,,¢ stated, I was only commenting on the reluctance of your users to switch to FireFox... and the only reason that I mentioned it at all was due to the fact that Apple includes that FF download link on their site.

Sorry for any confusion.

Hi guys, shoot, seems my edit of the thread came to late...:(

My apologies, I just had a really rough day today, I didn´t want to antagonise anyone.

Btw. I found an partial answer, I forgot the alignment tag in the iframe, and safari places iframes on center if there is none , which is just according to the HTML 4 standards. I don´t think that this is "inferior" behaviour of an application.

Edit: Unfortunaetly on Iphone, there is no firefox avaible....And the website displays the same way

But let´s just put those endless mac vs. pc discussions a side for a while.

When I used the alignment tag, I figured out that not the Iframe, but rather the whole article is just centered and shrinked to a certain size.

Could anybody tell me how I can get acess to the parameters, that are responsible for article alignment and size?

thanks

The article is not what is centered, is is the webkatalog script that is keeping everything centered. You'll need to edit that script to align left if thats what you need.
