Hiding Author in Article Blocks?

Hello,
I've been getting TinyPortal up and running on my site, and I love it!  What a great system.

I'm wondering if there is a way to have the articles displayed in article blocks without the author.  In other words, just show the title in the block.

Under "options" for each article, I un-checked the "author" field, but still the author shows up.

Can someone help me?

Thanks,
Matt

Ken.

That should work Matt, just as a check did you save the article after un-checking the author field?

Ken,
I just confirmed this again.

Here's what I did:
1. Opened each article
2. Clicked "[Edit article]"
3. Clicked "Edit visual options for the article"
4. Un-checked "show author"
5. Clicked "save"
6. Went back to the home page to confirm.

Just to be sure, I also did this:
1. Opened each article
2. Clicked "[Edit options]"
3. Un-checked "show author"
4. Clicked "save"
5. Went back to the home page to confirm.

The author still appears.

Maybe there's something else I'm doing wrong here?  Just to be clear, I'm listing my articles under "article category" blocks.

To see what I'm talking about, here's my site: http://www.thedogwriter.com

Ken.

Maybe I'm not understanding what you are asking Matt, but for me the author is not showing in any of your articles that I looked at.

In the two screen shots below you can see in the sample from your site that in the upper left it only shows the date/time whereas in the sample of one of my articles it shows my name as well.
Your name is showing in the body of your article, but thats because you typed it in and not as part of the options.

Ken.

Matt after re-reading your original post I found the topic linked below, see if this gives you what you need.
... there are several fixes listed in the topic.

Ken,
I want the author name to appear in the actual text, but not in the home-page block.

That link you provided answers my question, although I was hoping to use the article system rather than a menu to manage articles.  Doing this through a menu takes me away from one of the greatest features of TinyPortal -- the articles manager!!

OK, I've been adding articles using the menu manager, and it is way more difficult than the articles manager. There's got to be a way to turn off the author in the "article category" blocks.

Thanks,
Matthew

I reorganized my site using a menu box instead of an article category to list all my individual articles.  It looks really nice, thanks to the great design of TinyPortal!

However, it's more complicated to create a menu box to list all the artices in each category.  I'd really like to use the category function instead, but it just gets confusing when the author is shown after every article.

If anyone could help me here, I would really appreciate figuring out how to hide the author in the article category block.

Thanks for the great work on TinyPortal!

Matt

At the end of TPortalBlocks.template.php file:
Find function TPortal_categorybox().

Remove this code from it.
'.$listing['poster'].'

Thank you so much for researching this!  I really appreciate it.

OK, now there's just one more thing to address here.  Although the author is now off, there is still a "by" after the article title.  How do I turn that off as well?

Thanks again!
Matthew

You want the line to look like this:

echo '<b><a href="'.$scripturl.'?page='.$listing['id'].'">'.$listing['subject'].'</a></b><br />';
