Oversized images not auto scrollbaring/cutting off in all browsers

I used to use Firefox 2 but recently moved to 3 now the images don't auto shrink if the window size is too small like they did in firefox2 and IE here is what they look like.

anyone have any idea why it does this or how to fix it?

it might be the code you are using to reduce the image

I am guessing you are using an html resize pic code?

IE and safari are very picky about how the code is written, Firefox (1 & 2) were not, but I haven't tested 3

Post the code that you are using for resizing (dont forget the code tags)

EDIT: I looked carefully at your pics and FF2 was creating a scrollbar, the others weren't...so it wasn't due to resizing at all

A solution is search Google for "resize image using html" and that should fix your problem...

err what i mean is that scroll bar and i never put any code for it in. It was just there. Safari and ff3 make the image just run right out of the alloted space into the next frame/column/table whichever its called. I just want it to put a scrollbar under it for all browsers or at least like ie with no scrollbar but the image does not run into the next column. This is really hard to describe

The strange thing is when i look at the image in the regular forum post like this http://www.gaidin.info/index.php?topic=1312.0 on ffb3, ie and safari they have the scroll bar. Just on the front page ffb3 and safari do not have a scroll bar and bleed off into the next column ie does not bleed but does not have a scrollbar

I know that your question is about auto shrink with browsers... but IMHO why go through all the hassle in the first place???

In looking at your pictures at the links you posted my first thought is that your images really don't need to be that big... both the visual and the kb size are just to big. A nice clean image of 800x600(or less) with a kb size of 100kb(or less)may make most of your issue go away. or if not it would at the very least make it better.

I wrote a simple little how-to on web images & file sizes for my members so that they could do a better of posting to my pictures gallery... you are welcome to read it if you think it would be useful.
