SMF version: 1.1.4
TP version: 0.9.8
Theme name and version: Blueskies for 1.1 / pn-pn 114
Mods installed: SMF Shoutbox, SMF links, SMF ad managment
Related Error messages: ./Themes/default/index.template.php - Test failed

Ok, I have tried installing TP but I cannot get it to work. I understand that other people who get the above error message are told to manually edit the file, but my question is this...

The above error seems to relate specifically to the "default" theme, so if I'm not using the default theme would I still have to edit that file, or should I just ignore it?

Ken.

When you read the install instructions for both package manager installs as well as manual installs you will see that TinyPortal (and any other mod for that matter) should always be installed while your forum is in the SMF Default Core theme.

Not doing mod installs in the default theme will cause problems, so the first question is what theme are you in while trying to install TP?

I was trying to use Blueskies 1.1 because it is for TP.

I thought there is no point trying to install it with the default theme, as it obviously won't work?

If there needs to be edits to the default theme then it wont work. So I was trying a theme which was already designed to be used with TP.

Same thing:
Quote10.     Execute Modification     ./Themes/default/index.template.php     Test failed

I don't have a problem doing a manual edit if I could figure out WHAT to edit.
There is no reference to "Themes/default/index.template.php" in the file list......

Could somebody just point me to find out WHAT edit to make to /default/index.template.php

No it's not the same thing at all... I'm not asking how to edit. Please don't take this thread off topic.

What I need to know is wether I still need to edit that file, even if I'm not using the default theme - and if not then why doesn't TP work on my forum.

kotoa, read the guidelines in the sticky at the top of this board. It specifically says NOT to hijack another topic with your own post.

seek, "if" TP installed properly to your forum, then using a TP compatible theme will work even if the default theme doesn't. That is all dependent upon the "if" though. :)

Well it seemed to install just fine. The only error I got was the one mentioned above, and I'm pretty sure the theme is compatible.

After installing I got a message which said click here to "restart" my forums. After clicking that link my forums just appear like normal - as they did before the installation. And I don't see any new options or anything for enabling TP.

It's strongly suggested that you have TinyPortal running correctly with the Default Core theme before any other themes. The Core theme is the backbone to the entire site. This will save you, and us trouble later, and I can assure you, you will be back with problems.

So before you do anything else, make sure TinyPortal is running properly with the Default Core theme.

Usually errors like the above are caused because you have other mods installed prior to installing TP which have edited the files and throws errors.

Either un-install all the mods you have, install TP.. then re-install all your mods, themes.
Or as already suggested, manually edit the file that is showing an error.
