hey guys, i did search for an answer to this problem but the 10 or so results that were returned were quite what the problem im dealing with is, i checked the docs but they simply refer to having the settings in the settings tab set to allow the blocks to be displayed, and then to also check in block management to see if the blocks are toggled off.  both are set correctly.

My problem specifically is that when i enable certain themes the blocks for the frontpage are no longer displayed, i'd love to fix this problem, any thoughts?

thanks in advance for helping, i hope this isnt too obvious a fix, i'll just fill outright silly  :-\

Ken.

What themes are you having issues with?
It would also be helpful to have links to those themes on your site.

Thanks

the website is not accesible from the outside world, its a testing enviroment i created as i couldnt afford to keep a webhost going with all the websites i was working on so i put together a LAMP box.

However the themes im having problem with seem to be any custom theme imported, the method i use to install them is in the admin area, themes and layout, bottom middle (install a new theme)  the file i browse and upload is a .zip as downloaded directly from this site.

The themes (just so you know) more specifically that i am attempting to use, all though the problem is not specific to those is Mesh and Invazion.  I dont see the problem on the default core theme or the Babylon theme however the generic YaBB theme also has the problem.

also just for reference, a LAMP server consists of Linux, in this case Ubuntu, Apache2, Mysql, PHP5.

Ken.

Invazion has TinyPortal  support built into the theme and I think that Mesh may be the same... in any case read this following and see if it helps.
Note the last sentence for built in TP support.

Sounds like you have the SMF version of this theme installed, if so please do as follows:

Set your forum to the SMF Core Default theme, and then uninstall the SMF version of the custom theme.
Next go to the download page for the theme that you want.
Make sure to get the correct theme by looking for TP at the end of the theme name on the download page,
most download pages will have two links with the 'Download' button being the SMF version and down below that the TP version.

A few themes are designed to work with SMF as well as SMF/TP and for those you must turn on TinyPortal support in your 'Current Theme' settings.
