tiny portal installation question

a pretty simple question really...

I've got an existing SMF forum had one for sometime, and have since discovered this wonderful looking tool.

We're i to install it...is it going to interfere with my forum as is?

Or will it leave it be, until i configure it...and the 'portal' page will be seperate link ...so to speak.

Basically i don't wanna disturb my current forum & forum users until i'm happy playing with this.

TP is a a mod to SMF so you install it directly through your package manager.
Yes, tp integrates with the SMF theme ( default Core) and if you have a custom theme, you need to eather find the theme made for TP or make edits to it for tp

im using default so that isn't a problem.

So when i apply this mod, its not gonna interfere with my current 'forums' look?   Presumably there'll be some config to do to get the portal bit looking swish and what to include there and such.

The only visible changes will be a new 'front' page and the additional Tiny Portal section in the help menu.
On the new front page; if you don't want it to show you are able to select 'Go directly to the forum' and that way your members forum experience will remain the same as now.

Beyond that it will be determined by any content that you may add, like blocks or articles...etc.
"to get the portal bit looking swish"... its as easy or as complicated as you want it to be, lots of stuff is built in and easy, but there is also lots of other content that can take some effort.

Create a test forum to play with until you learn how to use it and are happy with it. You will not mess up your live forum and can play with it until you feel comfortable enough it use it on your live forum.

You should do this for any mod your are uncomfortable using/installing. It'll give you time to learn it first. If there are any problems you'll learn how to solve them before springing them on your users.

well it does help to know if there are any other installed mods because that is what this site always asks to begin with, and if there are, on what to do to get installed without errors, as errors will affect the site, and how it looks. i was just asking, as i was curious.
