Hi all,

Kinda new to all this  :uglystupid2:

What I'm trying to do is have the feature article appear on the frontpage, followed by the frontblocks. (both are HTML).

I have the TP settings for frontpage to "Featured article and front page blocks", as well as "Frontblocks are added last".

For the frontblock itself, I have it "activated" - its just basic HTML (text).

The feature article appears, but not the frontblock. I've tinkered with options all over the place - to no avail.  :-\

I'm running SMF 1.1.4, with TP 0.9.83
The only mod I have is admod 2.3 (which works fine).
Theme is "mystic jade" from http://www.dzinerstudio.com/

I'm thinking there's just some little thing I have to tweek - but cannot find it.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers  :)

...have you set the article 'as Featured'?... hope this helps!

Also note that FT feature is not 100%....when you use boards for news they will "take over" and push out/hide the rest of the blocks and articles. It is a bug.
Chances are sanax's advice is what you are missing.

Yup - the "featured" article (you can only set one - I think) appears, but the frontblock does not.  :(

not ever the frame? block should be active and visible on all pages (or the ones u like and expect it to be on) while it should be bbc/html block right?

Nope - nothing but the "featured ad" appears.  :'( What I think SHOULD be happening is the featured ad appears, then below it whatever frontblocks I have active. Both are simple HTML text too.

I think I have my settings correct - or do I?  :uglystupid2:

here is howto:http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=6882
which sounds like u got it down. Last area to look at is the actual html you are using....I would cut it down to simple text (not "html  text" and js tags) and see if it shows  up. I am sure it is some simple setting.
Lastly, you can PM me with temp admin account and I can take a look at it if u feel comfortable. If not then alt solution would be to post screenshots of your:
- FP settings
- block in question settings
All the best!

Hi lebisol,

First, let me thank you now for helping.

As for the site and how to proceed - I'm doing the site as a "freebie" for some friends of mine - I'd have to check with them before I grant admin access (which seems like a good idea to me).

I've attached two files, which hopefully shows you my settings as they are at present. It doesn't seem to matter what I've done, all I get is the "feature article"... and nothing.  :uglystupid2:

Have a peek and, in the meantime, I'll contact the site owners and get their okie-dokie for you to have a real-time looksee.

Cheers

Ummm... also looks like I can't send PM's.... probably cuz I'm a newbie here?  :o

Remove the Article (-no title-) from Front Page and activate your "About Us" html block.
Make some article (that is not the same as your html block so you dont get confused...no need to categorize it at this point) and in Article itself -the properties/visual options set it as Featured. Now you Front page block and Featured article will show.
It is a bit ackward at first with Front having a few minor bugs but experiment with differnt layouts to get better understanding of blocks and combinations of them.....good luck!
All the best!
