Even if a theme is downloaded from this site, it doesent mean it's a TP enabled theme as many themes have both the SMF only and then SMF tp version.

And i think you have to use the search a bit and try and find some answers your self, the one with that only a sertain group can see the blocks are posted several times and permissions should be a known fact to start looking in to

You didnt say from the start that it was the ADMIN missing from your setup, you clearly said it was the forum, you edit that away later on from what i can see in your first post.
Thats why we have great posting guides you can follow to give the info we need in the FIRT post and not 3 pages down the row.

Your own edits to themes (from this site) have support to a limit, if you decide to change themes and what they do or look like, we expect you to do some investigation of your own on this site.
Statments like "WTF" is nothing we like here eather, even if it some times are frustrating to not get things to work the way you want them to.

So lets start over now, you post WHAT you need help with in ONE post, and we go from there, cause now you have changed your story several times so it's more or less impossible to follow up now.

Agree with G6, you did say Forum.

As for the blocks being visible.. check each blocks permissions.

I am aware of that, which is why I made sure that I downloaded the TP version. There are two versions of Helios listed on the download page. The TP one is the lower of the two. That is the one I downloaded and installed. No offence but I already stated that clearly.

I have checked them and can't see anything wrong with them, but I'll go through them again just to be certain.

No. I'm sorry but you're wrong. The only thing I edited in my OP was the title. Nothing else was altered.

Ok. I'll put it in this post.

1/ Is it permissible to run two copies of the same theme on a forum with TP?

2/ If the answer to that question is "no" then that explains why I had a problem.
If the answer is "yes" then I'm still confused. 

3/ Assuming that it is ok to run two copies I'd like to know if there's any precedent for a minor index.template.php edit in one copy causing both copies to malfunction, resulting in masses of error messages and the loss of TP functions on all the other themes as well.

Well, unless I see things as G6 did.. I'm sure you said forum..
Yes you can run 2 copies of the same theme, they are in 2 different folders.
It might help you to identify which is which by giving it a new title.

One is standard width.. the other is wide for our Galley and Reviews boards. they are almost identicle in that links in the index.template.php have been duplicated.

The second theme is retitled Invazion Gallery

What I said was "the forum went nuts", meaning the forum (as an entity, not the forum button itself) started malfunctioning. Then I said the admin button had disappeared from the button bar (as part of the malfunction). It's not particularly important at this stage anyway.

3) The theme will likely have it's own index.template.php file, as most themes do.. if not all.
Editing one will only cause problems in that one theme.. assuming you did it wrong.

Delete the index.template.php file from the theme folder. The forum will now use the Default Core theme index.template.php file.

Ok, that's what I would have expected. So given that not only both copies of Helios but every other theme on the site as well were affected it seems I have a mystery still.

And yes, those files have been deleted because I deleted both copies of Helios when things became "amusing". I have since installed a fresh copy which is running smoothly.

Unless you edited the default template.. there is no reason that those problems should affect any other theme.

I couldn't alter the default Core template because it's locked in the admin centre. I wasn't extracting any files by FTP. It was live editing via the windows in admin. The only edit was to one small stretch of code in the indx.template.php file of one copy of Helios.

Result; stuff hitting fan and flying all over the place. Interesting, no?

Anyway, at the moment things are back to normal on the fresh installation.
I can't mark the OP solved but there's no immediate problem that I can see.
