TP noob & (dumb) SMF/Template mod questions....

Apologies in advance if this is posted in the wrong section... Didn't really see a "General Questions" section.

That said, I run 3 sites  using SMF 1.1.2 and MKPortal, but then saw that phpBB-3 (Gold) came out, so started playing with that (What a POS compared to SMF!) Anyway, was growing tired of the standard themes for SMF and started wading thru stacks of templates, and thats how I found Bloc & TinyPortal.  Without a doubt, you all make the most professional templates & mods... but enough sucking up... and onto my Q's-

Am I to assume that TP is similar in form & function to MKportal? Not looking to pick a fight, really just wish to know the pros & cons.

I loaded SMF 1.1.4 on a testbed for a new forum/site... Chose Movie007 just for the colour scheme... but ran into some MOD probs...  Says I don't have Bots (Google etc) installed, when I do... plus some other minor errors with Gallery, Shout (BTW, WHICH version of shout is best to use?)-  Gallery tabs show, but not on index (??)- Lightbox seems to hang too... Anyway, overall, I liked the look and function of that.  So, I go to SMF to get TP to download, but says there's no stable version ?? But came here tonight, and TP (your) site, says it does work with 1.1.4-  OK, so maybe SMF site is behind... But my real question is, with SMF 2.0 coming out here soon, will TP be working with that?  Also, the Nemisis theme used here, is pretty close to the "green" I need, just need to add some orange/red to match our site theme (Monster power drink & Mountain Dew - really gross green & red colours! Ugh!)-  Which leads to my last Q-  I'll assume you all do custom work (and installation?) - If so, how can I get a bid for this template and mods- As well as TP front page design and implementation?

PS: Took 40 mins to t-y-p-e this out- and "posting" bombed several times with Opera 9! Is that an Opera issue, or SMF 1.1.4 bug or your server acting up - or could be on my end?? Soooo slooooooooow!

The version available at BlocZone is TinyPortal 0.983 is a beta version, most of it works as it should, but not all, so it cannot be regarded as a stable version.

That I cannot fully answer as it is a very long time ago that I looked at MKportal. TinyPortal does differ in one very big way, if I remember correctly MK is a portal to which you can add the SMF Forum, TP is a mod for SMF and uses a lot of functions that are already there, so the overhead if much smaller.

You may have saved yourself a lot of problems if you had looked in the Docs section or searched.

Movies07 has the following mod support:

Using the Movie07 theme select Admin>Current Theme, you will then see the above and other theme specific options.

It is very easy to install TinyPortal, as it is an SMF mod you install it through the SMF Package Manager, it is best installed as the first mod and you must be using the default theme when you install it. After you have installed TP continue and install other mods, largest first. This is because the more mods that you have installed the more likely it is that you will get a test failed error and need to manually install some parts.

It is OK to modify any of Bloc's themes providing the theme credits are left in place. We have a board for theme commissions

If you post a request in there someone may help you, but simply changing some colours is easy to do by editing the theme style sheet.

But my real question is, with SMF 2.0 coming out here soon, will TP be working with that?

There is no scheduled release date for SMF2 and there will be template changes before it is released. There will ultimately be a version of TP to work with SMF2 but that won't be around until after a stable SMF2 is released. We are currently alpha testing the next version of TinyPortal this is for SMF 1.1x and it will have a lot more article and block options than TP 0.983.

That is an Opera 9.2x problem, the 9.5 beta is better. There appears to be a problem with the way Opera loads something, the graphics load but not all the data, the window refreshes and all the text in an open text box will be erased. If you click on the Stop button it will stop the refreshes and you won't lose what you have typed. I have used Opera for many years but I'm currently using FF2 which doesn't have that problem.
