I'm trying to add a script to a box for a music player but I get the following error:

"You don't have permission to access /smf/index.php on this server."

Is it a setting/persmission somewhere in SMF or the FTP that needs to be changed?

Also for some mods it requires you to change something in that same file "index.php", where exactly is it located (actually I think I have seen it) but when I tried to edit something in it, it does not save the changes.....??

Thanks in advance.

The code that you're using?

As for some mods requirements, I have no idea what you're talking about.

Thanks for the reply, the code I'm trying to place in the block is:

<p align="center">
<script
src="http://www.sourcetunes.com/players/website_player/player_150.js"></script>
<p/>

which renders the error msg I mentioned.

as for the mods, I notice that some of them say that 1 thing or another needs to modified in that file, I guess my question with regard to that is are they referring to the folder in the FTP? or on the SMF forum itself.

Not sure why you're getting the error. Perhaps you should try the path instead of the URL in your code.
src="players/website_player/player_150.js"

As for the other mods, I would assume they are needing to alter the index.php in your forum root. But I can't say for sure because we only support TP here and not any other mods.

alright, sounds good I'll give it a try.... wish me luck and thanks for the help!  :)

Edit: tried it with the same error, I've even had the owner of the player look @ it and they are not sure why it's generating that error either....  :-\

Server running safemod ?

Hello G6, to be honest I just came back in and just sent an email to the host company so I'm not sure and as they usually take forever to respond I probably will not be able to find out tonight :(

Lets wait for their reply and then go from there.

Noted, will do... and as always I appreciate your assistance. I'm also sending you a "PM" to give you an update on a previous issue :)

Great, thats why i brought up the safe mode issues again, everything regarding your issues you have had with your site point in the same direction, and thats the server config and probably a very strict safemode configuration.
