Okay As the title says I have freshly installed smf 1.1.4 with no problems... and downloaded and installed the tiny portal mod with no problems (ie all tests successful).

BUT

Whenever in the admin panel no links show up under the Tiny portal heading and while in the admin account the top of smf reads "Welcome,!" with no username. Similary the user box is pretty much blank (down the left).

So im pretty much confused and frustated as I have freshly installed it twice now...

Any ideas?

LivetheFire, take a moment and relax. Breath in the bad, and let out the good. After you have successfully done that, take a read in the stickies at the top of this board. :D

You need to have English selected not the UTF-8 one! I got the same problem and fixed it pretty easily

Can someone point me to the install instructions for tp with a clean smf install of 1.1.4

Zetan

It's pretty straight forward if you use the package manager and have no problems.

All that you need to know can be found in the Docs:

Yea it is -- I wound up having to do the manual install but its looking great now.

This is the first time I have used anything besides vb and I have to say tiny portal and smf work so smooth and are very easy to manage.

Now I need to make a completely custom theme like the one I had on vb.

Here's what I have so far.

Well, I'm pleased you got it installed.. and manually too.  :)

Site looks good and seems to be running correctly, yes, a custom theme would be the next thing to consider.
There are plenty here, by many different designers. And remember, you need TP compatible themes. They are in the same downloads page or in the theme authors boards.

I had one small mishap through the whole process.

If anyone needs the modded files for easy install just lemme know.

As I was copying code and pasting I was wishing someone had just posted the files. lol

if they did I missed em... :uglystupid2:

tick

The reason that no one has just posted them is it is against smf's license that you agree to when you use the software that you would not distribute the smf files.  So any talk of distributing the files or posting modded files will be frowned upon .
